Vetta 2 boot issue.

I couldn't find any other instances of this particular malfunction so I decided to share it here.  I've got a vetta ii here that won't shut down.  As soon as it's plugged in it turns on and the power switch does nothing whatsoever to it.  It functions flawlessly, except that it is immortal.  Does anyone have any suggestions about what to do with a zombie vetta ii?  It's not hindering my musical endeavors but it still needs to stop.  I'm going to update/flash the firmware later and i'll repost if that does anything.

    Hi,

I doubt this could be a firmware issue. It sounds like a broken on/off switch. you need to take it to a service center for repair.

The Vetta won't be under warranty but it should be a fairly cheap repair.

      Thanks,

Hi don’t mean to hijack your thread but I am having the same problem on my 6 year old Vetta II.

The thing is I live in northern Sweden and the closest line 6 support seems to be located in Germany more than 1k miles away.

Can I buy a new power switch somewhere and replace it myself?

Yes you can. Is it a head or a combo? It's a somewhat common snap in rocker switch.

Just find a good electrocics guy to sort it out for you. There is not point in taking it to a Line 6 shop as they can do little for your Vetta. If he's a friend, it shouldn't cost you more than about $10 to get it put right.

        Thank you for your reply:)

It’s a head, I'll ask around and see if there is anyone locally that can help me

From the pics in the service manual it looks like they are only using half the swich. It's a DPST for double pole. single throw.

Perhaps you or your electronics repair person could pop it out then move the slide on terminals to the other half of the switch and it will work for ya. Of couse it could be buggered inside so that may or may not work. Some switches you can take apart and repair but as I said it's a common enough switch that you should not have any trouble finding a replacment for it. If you get an electronics guy who needs the service info, shoot me a PM.

Yes that is true and I know for a fact you can actually move the terminals, because I did, about a year ago when I had the same problems:).

            After that everything worked fine...

            Until now.

For anyone else who is experiencing these same problems for the first time, I can tell you that accessing the switch and moving the terminals is relatively easy and only takes about 5 minutes.

But as always with electronics you need to be very careful and first ask a professional for help, because circuits with capacitors will maintain their charge for a time even after you disconnect the power cable.
