POD HD500 Acoustic Simulator

In studio, I use a Variax and a POD HD500 for acoustic stuffs. It is just perfect.

With my other electric guitars, I need to add a Boss AC-3 Acoustic Simulator in the effect loop of the POD HD500 in order to have good results.

I hope that Line 6 will deliver this feature in a new update. And you?

I completely agree. They've done an incredible job simulating amps and pedals... now we do have a Whammy that works... an Acoustic Simulator would fit just fine inside the HD 500. Doesn't need to be the one from Boss, but there are other nice ones like Behringer.

So far this is the FX I miss on HD 500. The wah-wah models are improved compared to the ones at X3 Live... but an Acoustic Simulator would be a great addition to the HD 500!

I'm not sure what update they were added as I just got the HD500, but check the dual tone presets, there are several acoustic sim's there.

        Re: POD HD500 Acoustic Simulator

        hey kmoed

there are patches prepared to be played using an acoustic guitar. As you know, there are some amps more turned to blues, other to clean sounds, other to hardcore and some others to heavy metal sounds. And also there are some specific amps that sounds better when an acoustic guitar is plugged.

The reason that stbline6 started this topic was to confirm what I wrote on the lines above, stating that he likes the HD500 using the Variax for acoustic stuff, and it'd be great to have an effect/simulation on which you shouldn't have a Variax to achieve that. There are some pedals for you to plug your electric guitar and make it sound like an acoustic (like Boss's Acoustic Simulator - AC-3). And it'd be welcome to get a simulation like that at the HD500

Yes, you can tweak a patch to bring your electric guitar sound more closer to an acoustic. Gotta spend some time at the EQ and you may get a sound that may remember an acoustic. But it'd be nice to have an effect that you'd plug your guitar, turn this effect on and BAMMM: you got an acoustic guitar sound, using any guitar you'd like

        cya!

Or you could try the acoustic presets from the 1.40 firmware in the setlist "Bass/Aco/Voc". They sound good with my Gibson SG.

          Hey Birro,

The patches under the dual tone presets, are acoustic sim patches, they make your electric sound like an acoustic. All of them far surpass the Behringer and Boss Acoustic Sim pedals(I have both).

I have them setup to use with both my Fender Strat and PRS, No Variax.

Maybe there original intention was to be used with an acoustic guitar, but it would make no sense to me as they are simulating an acoustic sound through an eletric. There are no amp models in the patches, I only use the HD500 as an effects only board in front of my amp.

            Re: POD HD500 Acoustic Simulator

This looks to me like Line 6 has chosen to use what they already had for the POD HD...Just using several Studio EQs and no amp to create enough EQ settings for anyone to dial in an acoustic sound they will like for the Dreadnaught, Parlor, or Jumbo bodies.

I created an acoustic patch back when the POD HD500 first came out as I use acoustic sounds very often switching back an forth during several songs in my live performances.  Perhaps my patch listed below might be of use to those looking for an acoustic patch with a great sound?

The acoustic POD HD patches start at the bottom of page 4 & continue over to page 5.  The JTV acoustic patches I've created are on earlier pages.

PS - what version of EDIT are you getting that page photo from?

    Re: POD HD500 Acoustic Simulator

    Hello to all members.

I agree that this shortage has left a void difficult to fill.

I play live with pedals since leaving the POD XT.

I tried to get a good acoustic sound with the HD500 only I use now, but I'm not convinced. I bought a Yamaha Pedal Stompbox AC external support but neither worked.

It will be a great day for those who played varied rhythms, when Line 6 gives us the gift of regaining sound amplifier we had in the X3 Live.

    Greetings all.

    Daniel.
