Shure WB98H/C with Line6 XD-V55L

Hi there ,

I've seen a couple of answers regarding 3rd party mics , in specific the shure wb98h/c working with the xd-v70 system ,

would this also work with the xd-v55 system ?

It should if wired correctly. The bigger question might be suitability so it will depend on how close you get it and how loud the performer is (just like with any mic and transmitter.

If you update the V70 to the new V2.x firmware there is now a level control that will aid if you need more or less level. The V55 does not have this feature however.

I have a Shure wb98h/c that I use for my tenor sax. It works just fine with my XD-V75H. Since the WB98H/C is designed for high SPL applications, I would assume that you are using it for brass, drums, etc.

  The WB98H/C is great for clamping to any loud instrument and "plugging and playing" with Line 6 TBP12 beltpacks, be they transmitting to XD-V55 or XD-V70/75 receivers.
  
  I don't feel that the v2 software's additional output level trim (that's only applicable to the V70/75s) is a prime requirement, as the Shure WB98H/C only yields "normal" dynamic mic levels from the outputs of either of the receivers in question.
  
  Nevertheless, I reckon that the other additional features "bundled" with the v2 software, plus the antenna options, make the additional cash for a V70 or V75 a very wise investment in both flexibility and peace of mind.

    Agreed ... it's not a requirement. In fact I feel that using the gain control is a "band-aid". It doesn't "fix" the problem but it can stop the bleeding.

    To reinforce Ron's point, I've also used it with my Relay G-50 with excellent results.

        Hah . . . Thanks Ron, but no you don't. I said I play tenor sax, not that I play it well. lol I'm mostly a utility guitar picker in a church band, and occasionally sub on sax if needed. I've also used my XD-V75 with a LR Baggs mandolin pickup with good results. Mandolin is another instrument that I don't play well, but I never let that stop me.
