On discounts and predictions...

Short version: JTVs are heavily discounted on Sweetwater.  Anyone think there's something new coming down the pipe, possibly at Winter NAMM?

Elaboration:

I've wanted a JTV-89 for a while now, but a few things have held me back.  1) I'm a seven string player and 2) I'm a professional musician of meager means.  #2 is the biggie, as I would mostly use a variax on cover gigs (as opposed to original shows), and it didn't seem like I'd get a good return on investment when my Carvin 7's were getting the job done now.  (I fake alternate tunings in 7-string-standard, letting me do songs in Drop D or half-step-down without retuning live)

BUT, I'm also a techy and a gear head, and an advocate of digital technology for live music.  (Bogner said the tube amp hasn't changed much in 30 years, but the computer has done nothing but advance)  So, I'm torn.

On the one hand, deep discounts usually mean new stock.  Basic economics.  Out with the old, in with the new.  I've long thought Line 6 would have some new toys at 2013 Winter Namm and this all but confirms (in my mind) that there are going to be new Variaxes.  And hopefully they will overcome some of the problems people have had, and usher in a more perfect digital guitar.

On the other hand, deep discounts mean affordability now.  I can't afford a $2k guitar, but a $1k guitar with "three easy payments" seems like a more justifiable purchase.

So, I'm sure Line 6 isn't making any announcements until they, well, make the announcement.  This is about speculation and educated guesses.  What's Line 6 got in store for the immediate future?
