Both are pretty dependant on the guitar in use. You need single coils out of phase for Cold Shot, and whatever that thang is Brian May plays for WWRY.

In general, start with the Twin and maybe a tube screamer for Cold shot, and the AC30 + I have no idea for WWRY.

Sorry, I know thats little to no help.

    For we will rock you.

Not any help directly in terms of a HD patch, but some clues from posts 'stolen' from the webternet that may point you in the desired direction.

    --------------------------------

Brian Mays guitar tone is the b*stard child of many different things-

    1. home made "fireplace" guitar

    2. really thin strings

    3. vox vc 30s turned right up. also- the Deacey amp- designed by the Queen bassist john Deacon.

    4.treble mid booster thingy/pedal

    5. the english 6 pence(silver metal coin). i think he has over a thousand of these that he gets from the bank.

    ---------------------------------

    Treble booster into cranked AC-30:

    ----------------------------------

Go find an old fireplace mantle, it has to be, oh, 100 years old or so. Build yourself a guitar out of it along with some old motorcycle parts and some Burns single coil pickups.

Buy or build a Rangemaster treble booster; If you build one it shouldn't cost more than thirty bucks or so.

Finally, get a couple of vintage JMI Vox AC-30's and an old Echoplex, hook it all up, and jam.

    ------------------------------------------

and finally, though I appreciatte you state you are not doing any computer based patches, you seemingly have computer access, so you could install 500 edit and dowload this from customtone. You can still input the values manually if you dont want to hook up with USB.

Sorry to see this mate, your question was a civil one but all I see is attitude from replies. I have also searched for Brian May patches. There are a couple in the custom tone. I have downloaded them and the main one is the twin delay he uses in the Brighton Rock solo. Just search Brian May in custom tone and you will find it. You will have to edit it to switch off the twin delays, as they are default and that should give you his sound raw with no delay.

Hope this helps ya mate, honest truth I'm not an expert on the HD500 but I will try when I can.

I sincerely hope you are not referring to my response with regard to "atittude".

I took time to search for something helpful, but short of finding specific patch beyond the custometone I listed and provided a link to (which I could not download and view as I was at work)I posted what I found most helpful, plus the comment I found re : the fireplace that I found witty.

If there is any atitude in this thread on my part it is only as of now, and only as a result of your post.

Trial and error always works for me. Listen to the guitar tones on the tracks and get as close as you can. In the heat of battle in a club getting close is good enough! I always tell the crowd -"The more you drink, the better you look"! Using the trial and error method takes more time yes. It also teaches you a lot more. Good Luck!!!

Sorry at my rant in your thread there... but that post (not yours) just got my back up.

Hope the responses provided have helped you (especially your own one ). Im not offended by the pom jokes (especially if thats the best youve got )

I havent personally used or endeavoured to use any Brian May tones despite being from the mother country... but this thread has piqued my intrest and I may just try the customtone one out myself.
