HD500 SPDIF output level question?

Hi everyone,I connect my HD500 to soundcard via spdif, I just wonder if I set spdif output level to highest (+12db),and lower the level of the mixer output of the patch.is that ok to not getting the digital clipping?

The volume of clean sound patch in my HD500 is way too low compare to those higain patch.so I really wanna raise the spdif output level.

  Havent used the SPDIF, but why not just try and see if you need to find out in a hurry?

    I am new to HD500,and the distrotion sound seems like fizzy and thin to my ear,I know I must be mess with the setting right now& there are too many things will product digital clipping if not setting right.
    
    so I just need a good starting to make them right. and the first thing would be the spdif output level for me.

      Wisj I could help you more mate, but as I havent used the SPDIF I dont even know what settings effect it (though I guess the usual 'studio direct' etc would apply). Also I tend to browse the forum from work so I dont have my HD to hand to even have a look.
      
      Im sure someone will come along that knows more about this set-up, but in the meantime I would suggest (if you havent already) checking the manual, and searching the forum for any similar questions raised.
