    Re: DT Editor

And you have a point about me coming on strong. But man, does Line 6 ever know how to be a huge buzz kill.

Digital modeling amps face a lot of challenges in the first place. There's the tube snobs. There's the fear that the product line is based on planned obsolescence. There are worried about reliability. And then there's unplanned but potentially inevitable obsolescence. Who would blame Line 6 for the fact that the original POD can't use the HD models? But it's a worry, because old fashioned amps are good for 50 years if well maintained. Digital has the connotation of temporary. And I don't hang them with any of this.

But why they have to - again in the words of their own tech support people - make things seem easier than they are, then bait you into buying new hardware, I just don't know.

I like to play guitar. Been playing for two decades. I work at it very hard, but I want it to be fun, not an annoying string of pointless hassles, easily avoided by just giving people reasonable information up front.

If you are referring to me, I'm not a line6 tech support employee... simply a regular user or on some days better known as captain obvious

    Re: DT Editor

Maybe its a little of topic, but can someone answer: does the cab selection affects the sound that comes through speaker or only the speaker simulated output?

Also Is there any info on which feedback topology should be used for amp sims?

I believe both, but I could be wrong.

    Re: DT Editor

If you change something in editor it is automatically saved on the amp?

So you get 8 preamps in total , but you have to pair them with only 2 poweramps right? Poweramp settings are not stored together with these presets?

    Re: DT Editor

About the cab sims, here's what I know.

The default 4 amp models from the v1 DT50 all had cab sims enabled.

Think of it like using a POD HD Pre amp model with a cab sim, and using output mode combo or stack power amp, running into the power amp input of a combo or stack. That's how the Dt amp models work.

That's often the error people make when they try to make a POD HD through a DT sound the same as the DT stand alone.... They forget to enable cab sims.

So for all the v2 amp models in the DT amps that you can enable with default settings, the cab sims are on just as the original 4 models in v1 firmware.

The cabs sims affect the whole sound, through the speaker and the direct output.

On the topic of feedback mode (and cabs too) one tip I have is to take a look at the midi info that line 6 have released with the DT v2 firmware, as I think there are settings to enable the amp model with all its defaults (inc cab model and feedback mode).  When you send that midi info to the amp it will select the default cab for that amp model (that's obvious and can be worked out which they are without needing to do this though), but for some models the feedback mode won't be obvious, so this method will help work it out.

    Cheers

    Rowbi

    Re: DT Editor

all settings are "sticky" meaning yes they will be remembered... and you the power amps change as well...

select your channel and your topology... tweak to taste.... then select next... topo/channel and it will recall the previous as you left it.

Got it running under a VM. Really great software. Line 6 should have made it first. Very grateful, Rolf. Now I can see if I can get myself to like this thing despite my Line 6 anger.

    Re: DT Editor

I have written a Mac configuration tool. It's no way near as pretty as rollo69's dtEdit. It's my first Mac application, and it hasn't been tested extensively.

But it can configure all of the DT50 settings, and it seems to work well on my DT50 112.

As long as there is interest, I plan to give it to this group when I figure out how to package it to Apple's satisfaction.  This should be in a day or so.

So, what's the general consensus? Does anyone want it?
