Another broken USB port

Yes, just like the one in this post http://line6.com/support/message/327873

And I took it out of the store around Nov 25 2012 (+- 44 days ago).

I'll fix and sell it, then it's GOOD RIDDANCE LINE 6 (after a lot of problems with my X3 and now this "Highly Destructible" version).

    Had it happen to me.......However, it was self induced.  I had the USB cable connected and the HD 500 propped up on its side.  The HD slipped and the center part of the USB broke off.  Ouch.

    Those kind of things could happen. I own two generations PODs and never had any hardware problems.

    In fairness to the original OP, yeas things 'DO' break, but this issue has come up alarmingly often. I treat my HD's USB connection with the most extreme 'kid gloves' as a result  of what I have read.

     

    That said, I would be very suprised if a warranty repair of this issue wouldnt result in a more robust socket than would be the case from new.

      My GMC Diesal 1 ton truck had a poorly designed fuel injector pump so GMC gave me an 11 year warranty on this one particular part.  I had it replaced 8 times at a cost to GMC of $1800 each time.  After ten years I asked GMC if they had come up with a new design because this is a real pain in the ***.  Their response was "No and it would be a good idea to get rid of the truck before the warranty ran out".

       

      The moral of the story - Don't hold your breath waiting for a design change.

       

      btw - I had 3 Ford Trucks that sucked, a GMC that sucked, now I own a Dodge.  The moral of this story, something will suck about everything at some point.

    I think the real problem is USB.  Line 6 purchases components and then implements them.........I have never seen an industrial strength USB socket that is musicaian proof.

    Well mine just broke, just the same as all the others. I have used many usbs for many years, not always as carefully as perhaps i should, never ever had one go. not one. ever. i treat the pod with kid gloves after reading all the reports but hey presto it breaks. Central plastic thing sheared off. This cannot be a coincidence, there is clearly a batch of defective sockets line6 have used. Just hoping i have no trouble with free repair. I bought from dv247 (in uk) specifically to get their free 4 year warranty.

    You may well be right, but I have never had a USB break in the manner that is often described here (well... at all for that matter), and really it does seem to be rather too frequent.

     

    Unless there is one global USB socket plant, I am rather inclined to agree with the view that that this is/was a dodgy batch.

     

    I've half a mind to dig out some old redundant USB euipped gear to actually see how easy it is to break the 'average' socket.
