Easy to turn on/off individual effect in HD Desktop?

I'm thinking of getting an HD Desktop.  On my POD XT Bean it's a matter of pressing a button to turn on/off individual effects.  On the HD Desktop, however, it seems that it requires a few button presses to so the same.  Can anyone comment on this?  I've skimmed the manuals, but without actually using an HD Bean it's difficult to tell.

    You can set the HD Desktop A/B/C/D buttons to conrol FX on/off. In page 1 of the SETUP pages, set the FS Mode to 5-8. Then in the Controllers page assign footswitches 5 thru 8 to control your FX on/off function as desired. The A button corresponds to FS5, B to FS6, C to FS7 and the D button to FS8.

     

    You FSMode 5-8 you will need to use the Bank up/down buttons on the HD Desktop to navigate to different presets.
