HD500 into iPad3 for quick recording.

I have an iPad3 with a camera kit and plugged USB from HD500 straight into iPad. Result= Device Not Supported by iPad3. Really?

I would like to record in stereo, and thought since an iRig into the iPad's headphone/mic jack is a mono input, the USB into the camera kit might enable a stereo input.

Anyone go from the HD500 direct into the USB camera kit? How can this be accomplished resulting in a stereo input? Is it possible?

Currently I'm using Studio Mini XL on my iPad.
