Pod HD Pro - how to connect for re-amping

Hi!
I have a Pod HD Pro connected to a Profire 2626 interface on my DAW.
I would like to be able to record a dry signal and then route that signal to the pod hd for processing. I´ve read somewhere that the best way to do this is to record the signal directly into the profire and then send it back to the pod using the front-panel guitar input. But this seems kind of strange (in my opinion) since its already connected to the DAW using USB. Is this really the way to go or how do I set up the signal-chain to make this happen? I´m sure other people have had the same problem is I do. And yes, I´m a beginner when it comes to these kinds of issues.

Yes - record the dry signal either direct into the Profire, or using the HD Pro dry signal output into the Profire (that way you can monitor the wet signal using the HD Pro as well).
For reamping, you can't use the usb connection from the DAW because the USB signal is not selectable as an input for your Pod HD Pro processing. The dry signal needs to be a selectable Input in the HD Pro in order for it to be reamped. That means it needs to be coming in through the Guitar, Aux, etc, input jack - not the USB connection.

I was curious if it would effect sound quality running it that way? Or would it be any different? I know that this runs 96Khz via usb, would it still be running 96Khz through 1/4 cables?
it would be analog rather than digital, so it would certainly not be 96khz
it should however, be processed from digital to analog and back to digital without any drastic change in sound quality.
doesn't the HDPro have SPDIF and AES/EBU inputs? just a thought...Not sure if that can be seen on the input page of an HDPro or not...![]()
I do believe you're right, with SPDIF in and out, you can stay in the digital realm if you're primary interface has the right connections.
It does have the spdif, but how should I connect it up that way so I can still use it as a reamping device?

I mean it sounds simple enough but is that how it would work? and I own the same interface as the previous guy (profire 2626) so do you know if that is how this will run it, I know there is that option.
To use it as a reamping device, I assume you mean to reamp a pre-recorded dry signal from your DAW. I don't understnad what your guitar > DI input has to do with reamping.
I would think that within your DAW you would assign the dry track playback to the OUT SPDIF on your interface. From there, the routing you describe should work to record the HD-processed output on a new track.
Yes but the "DI INPUT" is on the interface as I showed in the example, there is more than one type of input and the Instrument input is specifically made to convert to DI, but yes that would mean I would want to send a prerecorded DI through the POD HD PRO from my DAW.
It would enable me to listen to the POD HD PRO "live" while I record my DI, and still enable me to reamp it as many times as I want.
Guitar input POD out via s/pdif to interface. Select dry on the s/pdif menu page on the POD. I know the POD has a DI out anaolgue which I think is what you are referring to.
Reamping is as described.

Ok, lets try this again. My goal is to reamp keeping it digital (96Khz).

Ok I like that suggestion but I want to use the input on my Interface (MAUDIO Profire 2626 instrument input channel 1) other wise known as a DI.
So I would plug my guitar into my interface, then route the signal that I create from that through the spdif out on my Profire 2626 interface to the POD HD PRO
From there I would send that signal back out of the POD HD PRO on the SPDIF OUT to my Profire 2626 SPDIF IN. connect that to another track so I have two Tracks simultaniously recording but I would be able to rerecord the wet signal from the POD HD PRO over and over again by sending the Dry signal I recording THROUGH MY INTERFACE, PROFIRE 2626, thus creating a reamped signal.
This would allow me to do it live, and rerecord my wet signal over and over again. Or is that unnecessary and or is it possibly to reamp using usb or spdif, meaning can I send the dry signal back through the POD HD PRO without having to reroute it.
for myself, i record the dry over spdif, and go analog out with my wet signal, and arm 2 tracks, record them both.
assuming you have full SPDIF I/O's on your interface you could easily reamp digitally later... and simply monitor the wet, if you don't want to arm a track and record it initially....
i'm not overly fussed about staying all digital myself... since the end result is analog playback... but i do stay digital wherver it's easy enough to do so.
I reamp all the time with my EMU interface....I can do it with analog, spdif(coax or optic)...But the trick is the ASIO patch assignments for my EMUinterface to assign some particular dry track to the output that is connected to whatever is doing the processing...So I think it has to do with your Profire ASIO patch mix...or whatever it is called...In the EMU world it is called ASIO Patchmix...sets up the routing and the realtime hardware monitoring...
