X3 Live with Flextone iii and a stereo extension cab

I'm about to purchase an extension cab for my Flextone iii plus and I wanted to ask what the best cabling method would be to connect my X3 live to the Flextone amp, in order to take advantage of the stereo effects and dual channel tone capabilities on the X3. I'm assuming I'll be able to route the X3 live to drive tone one through left speaker and tone two to right speaker etc. Also, I'm fine to use the X3 live for amp modelling and effects so bypassing the Flextones modelling capabilities would be fine.

    Hello,

       

      If this was my setup, I'd dial in a flat, clean tone on the Flextone as there is no true bypass.

       

      Plug the left analog output of the POD into the Guitar Input of your Flextone.

       

      Remember that all of your stereo effects will still be summed to mono. The only way you can have a true stereo image is if you were plugging into the amp itself in stereo.

      I really wasn't sure what I could expect with the combination of my Flextone III amp and a POD X3 Live combined with a separate stereo extension cabinet, Your reply left me thinking I'd made a mistake and bought too much gear that wouldn't really work together, but I am ECSTATIC TO REPORT THAT IT DOES WORK. In fact, it works so well I can barely believe my ears. All of the effects and dual tone sounds run in true stereo. It is literally, the exact same sound that I'm getting with a great pair of stereo headphones plugged directly into the X3 Live.

       

      I've connected my guitar to the the Pod X3 guitar input. The Pod X3 Live to the Flextone's L/R effects return, (using the Pod's 1/4" L/R outputs).

      I have a dummy plug in the Flextone's amp input and an extension speaker cabinet running from the R channel speaker out on the Flextone III.

       

      I can control the Flextone via the volume control, but the amp's tone controls, amp and cab models and effects are disabled. (Exactly what I wanted).

      Now I control all of the amp and cab models, effects, stereo settings etc. on the X3 Live. THE RESULT IS UNBELIEVABLE!

       

      Can you please explain what I've done with this configuration? Have I bypassed the Flextone's preamp and models etc?? It certainly sounds like it.

      Anyway, LINE 6 -- you guys have really nailed it - thank you!!
