Any info on the three finger switches beside the exp. pedal?

There are three switches (not the footswitches) near the expression pedal, the little ones with gold lettering beside them.

There is nothing in the Advanced Guide regarding these switches.  I don't have the pedal in front of me here at work but I remember one is Line/Amp and when the switch was stuck between the two settings I wasn't getting any sound.

In the Advanced Guide, page 2.8 you can select the output mode between Studio/Direct and Combo and Stack settings, is this the same as Line/Amp?

Is there any documentation from Line6 explaining what these fingerswitches are for and how to use them?

Are you talking about the HD500? The switches are as follows:

guitar in - pad/normal - this is to turn on/off a input pad if you have hot pickups.

xlr - lift/ground - lift can be used to prevent ground loop noise if you get it when plugging into a mixer/pa

1/4 out - line/amp - sets the 1/4 out level to be either amp/pedal level or line level which is better for a mixer/pa

The pad switch is probably mostly intended for active pickups but you can try it with any guitar to see if it sounds better. Just drops the input a little with the pad on.

Yeah the XLR switch only effects the XLR outputs. Keep it on ground by default, only switch to lift if you are getting ground loop hum.

The line/amp sets the output level only whereas the studio/direct output affects the tone/sound.

InputZ is actually an analog model feature...If you set it to AUTO, then it will select an input impedance based on the first model in the chain...So when you put the crybaby wah first, it will suck tone just like the real one does...This is actually a litle resistor network in the Guitar input...aux and vax are not affected by this...This setting is actually pretty useful for me...I have an old 91 S540 LTD...it's a little bright...dropping the InputZ is decent way to deal with that guitar using the Plexi brite channel model...I like the channel, that guitar is a hair too bright for it...The Z really helps center the tonestack a bit better...I generally set it per preset...there is a global option for it too...For me, that setting is among the most important for getting the guitar setup for the chain in a preset...the lower the Z, the darker it gets...higher Z is brighter...there is some variation in dynamics with this also...

The ground lift is something they put on there to troll us, because it never actually does anything.

Seriously - in theory, it is for when you have a hum problem, which may be a ground loop, so you lift the ground to stop the hum.

This has been part of most amps I have used since the early 80s.

It has NEVER actually done anything.

To answer your question about whether the function of these switches is described in any of the product documentation, they're in the Pilot's Guide. They're called out on the diagram on page 4 and described on page 8.
