Delay settings

Help anyone!

How do I change the speed settings for the delays? I have been trying to change the speed of the delay eg. on Tube Echo when I put it on 1/4(dot) and try to change the speed, it keeps going back to a default setting. I have seen it set at a different speed, so it must be changeable, I just don't know how to do it. Can someone help me before I go crazy?

We might need some more details, but when you say it keeps going back to the default, are you turning the unit off and on again? Is your tap tempo set for global, or by patch?

OK, I think I get what you mean.

On the unit itself, there are 2 ways to change the speed of your delay. You can either dial the speed in by hand (which it sounds like you are doing), or you can tap it in. If you want an 8th note delay, dial it in by hand to 8th notes. Then, tap the tempo you want using your Tap Tempo/Tuner button.

        Does that help?

As far as Global vs Patch:

The system settings on your HD500 are accessed by pressing and holding the HOME button. Using the D-Pad, you scroll through until you get to a setting called Tempo Sync. The two options you can choose are Preset, or Global.

If you set it to Preset, then each preset will have its own tap tempo setting saved individually. If you set it to Global, then the current tap tempo will sync across EVERY patch, staying the same even when you change patches.

        Re: Delay settings

The delay is determined by a note setting based on the Tap Tempo value (e.g. 1/4 note based on 120 beats-per-minute) OR by a specific setting in milliseconds (ms). They are related but any change in one demands a change in the other.  For instance, if your Tap Tempo sets the tempo to be 120bpm and you select 1/4 note for the delay setting, the delay interval is calculated to be 2 beats-per-second (500 ms per beat) divided by 4 = 125 ms. However, if you then manually change this to, say 140ms, the note/taptempo relationship is no longer valid and so the note value disappears.

Just be sure that your foot controller isn't assigned to the delay speed.

I had this issue with the volume always going back to a 'default' when I changed patches.
