I posted this here mainly because I am curious out of the HD users that happen to be Tune-O-Matic fans if they might we will to share what works, doesn't work...etc...
Does nickel plating make any difference to you?
It really sounds better when you get it down to the copper...
Did the aluminum stop tail really push it over the cliff?
Did replacing bushing inserts for steel totally screwed your tone?
Nashville, ABR-1...Faber conversion?
Did replacing the Korean Sung pot metal TOM with a Tonepros do anything at all?
Anyway, I have finished doing a ton of my own research for a little project I am doing and to finish that out I am just curious on what works or doesn't work for you in terms of a TOMs. Since I generally end up using something Line 6 and usually an HD these days to benchmark progress for myself, I am hoping to find a few folks out there that might share thier thoughts on thier TOM madness...thanks!
I don't know if I ever got this detailed with it, but I did swap out the tune-o-matic style bridge on my Schecter C1+ with a version with graphtec saddles and it definitely improved the tuning and intonation stability!
Thanks for sharing. I am really starting to like the graphtech stuff a lot...Did you replace the studs and/or insert bushings?
If I remember right I only replaced the actual bridge piece and studs but not the inserts in the guitar. Easiest bridge swap ever.
I have been eyeing up those graphtech saddles for a while. I put Black Tusq XL nuts on two of my electrics and Tusq saddles on two acoustic and they do make a real difference to the tone. More sustain and well rounded. Big thumbs up on Tusq from me. It is no coincidence that makers like Taylor use the stuff.
I ended up going for a graphtech NV1 4mm bridge and NVT stoptail...they arrived yesterday. All I can say is that it might be one of the most dramatic improvments I have have ever heard...Took me a while to decide on that one...But it did everything I hoped and more...There really is something to the tail being lighter...something quite good...
