UX2 mic latency... any solutions?

I'm using a UX2 on a PC (duo core, 2.6ghz, 4gbs ram) and while the overall recording is working fine (i.e., no dropouts, glitches, etc), I can't find any settings to get rid of the mic latency when recording.
I've optimized my computer per the Line 6 specs, and even with the buffer size set to the minimum, I still get an unacceptable amount of latency when recording vocals.
Although I'm not running any effects on the vocal track when recording, is there any way to record "direct" and avoid the latency?
Thanks!

Disable the recording track monitoring and use the Gearbox or Podfarm standalone app to monitor yourself.
I can't see a reason to do different since you are not running any effects in the track.
ahhh, thanks much DerMetzgermeister! You've given me a direction to go in... I'll try it tonight.
Any other ideas?
i can't think of anything else. monitoring sounds like it could be the issue, so i'd try that.
and just so I'm clear, i would disable monitoring in my recording software (reaper or sonar cakewalk), launch the podfarm stand-alone, and monitor through that?
Having never done this before, I will still be able to hear the entire mix? (yeah, I know, newb question, but ya know...) ![]()

Yes, you've got it right. But only disable the vocal track you're recording -- leave the backing tracks alone so they can play in real time. The latency you've experienced is the disparity between the existing, pre-recorded tracks (drums, bass, guitar, whatever) and the almost-but-not-quite realtime vocal tracks that are running through the gearbox or pod farm plugin.
By using Tone Direct monitoring for the vocal side of things, combined with the pre-recorded tracks from Reaper/Sonar, you'll be latency free and loving life. You can still actually use the Pod Farm standalone to process your vocal tracks in essentially real time and you'll be all set.
Hope this helps, btw...

ahh Fester, you always help. ![]()
Thanks much, I'm looking forward to trying it all out tonight... I know my singer would be thrilled to get rid of that latency delay in her vox.

She will love being able to monitor herself with no latency and reverb (or eq, or distortion, or delay, or whatever effect Gearbox has)
AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!!! yOU GUYS ROCK!
As you might be able to tell, your advice solved the latency/mic issue perfectly!
I never understood taht I could use the Pod Farm stand alone as a mic pre-input, but that method was fantastic!
Thank you again!
3.5 years later....
I have this same issue, and had already figured out that I can monitor via podfarm and record in Sonar, all is fine.
However, I am seeking the solution to go direct into Sonar without a monitoring latency from the mic, and can't find it. I think it would be ridiculous that I have to go through podfarm anytime I want to use the mic. There has to be an answer.
Any ideas?
Stay in the mix and in the know.
