JTV-69 on American Idol

I don't usually watch the show, but I had the TV on last night while practicing, and I saw this performance. The JTV-69 was front and center. I don't know this dude's name or whether this is a US version or a Korean model.

    I think I remember something about a band member of the AI house band endorsing the variax and HD500.  Or maybe that was the SLN guy.  I do remember seeing a variax on stage before in another season.

    I saw it as well.   paused the recording and showed my kids...who were of course not particuarly impressed

      I saw it too (Just last night... I had the show recorded).
      I did the same thing to show my wife. Paused it and was like... "Look, its a JTV-69, the strat version of my guitar".... She did not care either.

      Your post made me laugh.
      My wife did find your comment amusing also (of course I had to read it to her). Then I think she mumbeled something about me being a dork or something... LOL

       

      I first noticed it by the selector switch at the top of the guitar.
      Makes sense though... They have to cover a wide variety of sounds.
      I thought I saw a variax last season as well, but I never could get a good view of it.

        +1 for pausing and wife saying something like "whatever" ... me too

         

        I have always thought that Line 6 gear - JTV and POD would be absolutely ideal for this sort of thing where the band plays any and all kinds of music.

        I play both at church, which is a bit similar - works great.
