Serious clipping issues

So my setup is guitar->podxt->macbook. I have never had any issues until today. I was playing fine, when i got a bunch of buzzing. this is usual for me because of my house circuitry so i switched the plug to another outlet. when i turned the podxt back on, my guitar tone had completely gone. it sounded like playing active pickups with a dead battery. no tone, gain, or anything whatsoever. i also had to turn the channel volume and output to zero because any higher resulted in nonstop clipping. i have tried different settings, turned it on and off, checked the battery in my pickups, etc. This also happens when it is not connected to my macbook so the computer isnt an issue.
have you tried another guitar and cable? could you have a problem with either of them?
how about when there's nothing plugged into the PODs guitar input? does it still do the same?
have you tried backing up your tones and reinstalling the POD firmware, you can do both with line6 monkey software, which is free from here: http://line6.com/software/

Hopefully the problem isn't occurring internally in the PODxt device.
The first thing I recommend trying would be to download the new Mac OSX USB device driver we released last Friday. Install this new driver with your PODxt disconnected. Also, try a different USB cable and try the other USB port(s) on the computer afterwards.
If the problem still persists, you should try the PODxt on a different computer, just to rule out the possibility of it being the PODxt itself. If the same symptoms occur on a second computer, the PODxt will most likely need to be diagnosed by a Service Center tech.
