Hi
I`ve got a flextone 3 (75W) and it won´t power up. It start to power up and the lights turn on but it don´t go through the hole sequence and it stops leaving A,B,C,D, COMP, GATE on and Tempo/Tag is flashing. The amp won´t start. What is the problem. I have tryed with factory resetting and meshuring the voltages and everything seams to be fine. I have come to the solution that the problem is on the mainboard. How much does a new mainboard coast and from where can I order one. I suppose that it would be the same price to send and repair the old one.
best ragards Mikael
You have a locked up Flextone III....There is a precedure that has worked to clean that condition...I am going to have to search a little to find it but basically you power up the Flextone III in Safe Mode...The amp will still appear to be locked but midi will work...You then reflash the firmware with Monkey...Sometimes it takes more than one try but I know that has worked for some folks...
Ok, I found an old Line 6 post on this...Hold down A on power up to get into safe mode, Run the Monkey and Flash the firmware...
Chris Compton - 06/07/2004 10:12 AM If something were to happen during the update, you would be able to redo the update by holding the "A" button down while powering up the FlexTone. This wll put the amp in "Safe" mode for the update.
If something were to interupt the update, you will be fine. You will just need to redo the update.
Thank you,

You're welcome. Glad your back rockin dude.
Thank you Space; I tried the procedure with my E-MU 1820 and it did not work so I purchased the Midsport UNO and tried that. No go. In either test, I get no communications to or from the Flextone III.
Am I missing something?
Ok here is something that I´ve found out about the problems in Flextone 3.
There is a memory chip mounted in a socket on the mainboard. The problem is that the "springs" is loosed up and don't make kontakt with the chip.
You can mecher with a universal meter carefully and find out wich leg don´t make contact. I think that this is a main problem in Flextone 3.
Sorry about my pour english.
Be very carefully with working with these chips because the static electricity that you may cause.
Hope that some one can get help from this. I have.
regards Mikael
Thank's for the tip with the memory chip. It solved my powering up problem with my flextone III ![]()

I'm having a similar problem with my flextone HD also no matter what channel i use the light on the amp and footcontroller flash. When i first turn on the amp it's fine , then after about 10- 20 seconds the channel light starts flashing and the volume drops by about 10 db. But when you press another channel on the foot controller it comes up to normal volume. Then after 10-20 secomds the volume drops again. How do I fix this. Thanks
