The Daddy Of All Pedalboards!!!!!

I've decided that having a pair of Boss BCB60's http://www.flickr.com/photos/rowbinet/3642922009/in/set-72157619980358260/ was a little mental, especially when I always use them together (all gain stomps in one and dfelay, verb and mod in the other). so in total that's a width of 1m34cm and a depth of 37cm, for a total of 12 pedals (2 of those are noisegates). so let's call it 10 pedals.
then there's another problem, that the boss supplied daisy chain power supply and cable, isn't suitable for the 3 Line6 tonecore pedals or the Boss giga-delay. so as there's not enough room for a proper pedal power block (like a voodoo labs) I have to have a total of 6 wall warts for my boards... that's just mental.
SO HERE'S THE SOLUTION:
I will construct a single HUGE pedalboard using a cheap guitar case.
I will take photos during the project, and then if anyone else has a crazy desire to have a massive pedalboard, they can just follow what I did :-) I will also do a cost comparison between the pair of BCB60's inc all the power supplies, vs my guitar case pedalboard + voodoolabs, PSU, etc. I will base it on a cost to put a pedal in the case, and hopefully the guitar case version will come out the same cost or cheaper :-)
if anyone else has a similar HUGE pedalboard, please feel free to post a photo
Cheers
Rowbi
here's the case I intend to use. yes it's cheap, miles cheaper than a pair of BCB60's but it'll be 2 cm shallower (front to back) and only 101cm long, not 134cm... so it will actually give me a smaller pedalboard foot print, but hopefully without the layout of the BCB60, which only allows for one row of pedals, I hope to allow 2 rows in places... but we'll see how that goes...
Watch this space.
so I started teh build last night, and started cutting about the guitar case, i'm thinking that it will be a pain to install special hinges that come apart, and also i want to have a tilt on the board, which would mean large feet on the outside of the guitar case, so instead I'll leave the hinges and I'll make a ply wood board as the pedalboard, that fits into the guitar case as it is. i will also have to make some sort of folding feet for the back of the board so that when I take it out, I can make it tilt...
I have some photos I will post soon, but I think I may create a document of the whole project and post it here when it's done.
Cheers

Be interesting to see how you make out. I've been thinking of making a larger pedalboard out of a guitar case myself, so I can use my X3L and XTL on stage at the same time.

it's nearly there. all but 1 of the pedals are mounted, and I also need to tidy up the wiring a little.
it wasn't really easy to get pictures, that weren't just photos of wood and screws, but I will give a good description of what I did with some photos when it's 100% finished and tested.
just as a little taster, there's 16 pedals on the board, 1 is a wah and 2 are the size of 2 normal stomps, then there's the power supply section which is the size of 3 stomps itself. so if anyone were to just use it for stomps alone (standard size), with all power supplies off the board, you'd fit 22 stomps in the case :-)
here's a few photos. the white power strip, and the bad monkey are yet to be fastened down, and so is all the wiring. but it's all working, and with next to no background noise at all even with the noise gates off.
That's pretty slick!

maybe I should name it 'Slick Daddy' lol
Dude, that's insane!
lol, i like different sounds ![]()
okay so we have a new name for the pedalboard. it's now called the 'Insane Slick Daddy'
I think your pedalboard just gave me ADD, lol! Whatever works for ya, mate!

Here is currently what I'm contending with running my SV. All that is missing is my MXR ZW OD. One good reason to upgrade to the MK2, to get the X3L out out of the picture. I'm using the X3 to do the things that the MK2 will be able to do. I'm working a deal off Craigslist with a guy to buy a Digitech IPS 33-b. If it works out I don't know that I'll be a rush to trade up SV's. Especially with some off the mods that I've made to it.
lol, i forgot about my other pedalboard that I'd use with the big daddy.
I have another small case with an FBV Express and an MXR 10 band EQ for use with the SV1x12
ANOTHER ONE!?!?!?! ![]()
Rowbi, you're an animal! ![]()

well I've also got the case with the M13 and EX1 in it, and the case with the X3L in it, and I have a smaller pedalboard with some cheap stomps on it, like a home made tube screamer, a few behringers (one is the tube monster gain pedal, with bitmo mods on it, and it's also got a modified Boss CS3.
now do you see why I've started a GAS show and tell group ![]()
Dude...you need to get a grip! ![]()
