New Guitar Tone Issues

Hey guys so I just got a new electric guitar the Ibanez RG370DX seen here: http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Ibanez-RG370DX-Electric-Guitar?sku=512368.

My problem is my presets on my Spider III 15 don't get a same or even similar tone out of my Ibanez RG and in fact everything sounds muddier and dark. I'm wondering if anyone out there knows what I should do to get the tones I'm looking for: There was a whole forum convo dedicated to tones and I used the one for Metallica and that worked just fine on my Squier but my Ibanez makes it all muddier and the whole point is its distorted but bright. I'm just looking to see if anyone knows any settings that would get some metal/punk tones that sound good on my RG or if I should buy a different amp?

    Re: New Guitar Tone Issues

What kind of pickups are on your Squier guitar? Are they Single-coil pickups?

The Ibanez you just got is equipped with humbucker pickups in the bridge and neck positions and a single-coil pickup in the middle. Your humbuckers produce a different tone than a single-coil pickup doesin that it usually produces a fuller warmer sounds with more bass and less of the bell-like twang. To make you guitar sound similar to how your Squier sounds through the amp, you will need to tweak the EQ on the amp. Start out by raising the treble a bit and lowering the bass.

But remember that you are using a different guitar now that sounds different than your original, so you will need to keep that in mind when setting up your sound.

    Regards,
