it should work theres updates in the software section at line6 web site you may have to do a java update as well.
I have done all the up dates including java via Apples own software updates in the finder...still getting the same error ...I have even uninstalled and tried again.Same errors it does look like a java error.

that being the case id try updating the java then.
As stated java is up to date..thanks for your help though.... I'll just use an old windows pc that I have instead.....
Snow Leopard automatically installs a new version of Java. Try uninstalling Workbench and Java and then just reinstall Workbench and let the Workbench installer install the version of Java it wants. After that you can update the Java on your Mac and it should work although Snow Leopard is officially not supported yet so I cannot guarantee that it will.

Thanks I'll try that one..... and get back later...
No joy tried all ways to get it to work including starting from the old install disc and loading rosetta..... just not Snow Leopard compatable...I'll use it on WIndows XP for now untill it gets an update thanks for the help....
There's a little trick for 10.6 and Java.
Go to Applications/Utilities/Java Preferences. Open that one and in General, drag 32 bits on top of 64 bits. I was able to open Workbench now. But I don't have the guitar with me, so I can't confirm that it actually connects and works.
Check it out and let us know. Try Line6 Edit as well.
Cheers

Hey Doberman...many thanks for the help but I uninstalled 10.6 as it not only prevented Workbench but a couple of others apps too so untill it gets support all round I hold off installing it.... once again thanks for your help..

Apologies to those that I haven't marked as helpful..is there a way to do this retrospectively?
FYI, I get the same error as Vigalante on OS 10.6.1. Tried Dobermann's suggestion on 32 bit, but I still get the error.
Link dead.
How do I set my Java default to Java 5.0
Help. PLEASE!
I did it on my old iMac. I've just got a new one and I can't remember how to do it.
PodXT latest drivers and works in garage band but no Line 6 Edit.
Can someone help with answer to rpl561a and others - how do we load up Java Runtime 5 (not 6) in snow leopard?
Have tried to download (from Sun redirected to an apple site) which after downloading 33MB gives message that won't allow Java 5 on Snow Leopard operating system. How do we get the os to allow an older version?
Help to get Edit running as Pod is 10% of the machine without it..
I too am having the same problem, and its frustrating as hell!! please guys can you update the line 6 Edit software for us???![]()
