Les Paul (R.I.P.) Tribute

So I was thinking... as I've got 3 Les Pauls, that I would like to record a short Les Paul tribute to the man himself.
Now there's no way I would be able to play like him, so I thought the best idea would be to just play whatever we play (any style) BUT it must be played on Les Pauls
So I'm going to start looking to see if I can find a suitable backing track, and as I've got a couple of weeks off work coming up, I will definately be able to get stuck into this and the other couple of recording projects that I've been meaning to do on this group.
Feel free if you have a suitable backing track to post it, as I've yet to find a suitable one.
Cheers
Rowbi
check out the attached backing track. it's a gary moore style track, which I thought would sound cool.
if you don't know the drill, on how to record your guitar tracks seperately, check out the documents in this group.
EDIT: Removed backing track that we're not using.

cool
glad you're on board.
I had a good look around and was trying to find something a bit bluesy, just to hint at a les paul theme, although I didn't want to go whole hog and try to play a les paul tune.
have you any ideas about a better backing track, as they're not that easy to find good ones
Cheers

and in jumps line6angela (and line6 generally) to the rescue.
Yesterday Line6 added some backing tracks, so here's the walking jazz backing track. I think it would go well as a real tribute to Les Paul.
Please get recording your own take, and post the guitar track (with no backing) at least, and any extras if you like, e.g. a mix with the guitar = backing for all to hear, and if you like a dry guitar track and your tone file, and I can adjust the tone when I mix them,
get recording ASAP, so I can get this all mixed soon.
i'll start us up........
here i've played clean with a set of gibby classic pickups!
the paul i'm using is a lemon drop finish standard.......it practically plays it self.......LoL.
sounds good man.
i will get recording my own take over the next few days, so if anyone elae wants to join in on this, please record something by the end of the day Monday 31st Aug, and I'll start mixing it next week.
Cheers

okay, I'm at home now and going to start recording some riffs for this today. if anyone else wants to get in on the action, please record something today/tonight, so I can get it in the mix tomorrow.
Also please provide as much detail of your guitar your playing, and is possible post a few pictures of your les paul, and if you like, of you playing it. I will do the mix and if there's no objections from the players, I'll create a youtube video as a tribute with all the pictures you post included.
oh and one last thing, you can participate even if you haven't got a les paul... remember, Les Paul had a hand in creating the idea of the electric guitar, some delay effects (sound on sound) and multi track recorders... playing a les paul guitar is just a bonus ![]()
okay so here's the first mix.
only myself and dandaman327 recorded something, which is a real shame, if only because none of us would be here if it weren't for him inventing the electric guitar and 4 track recorder....
but never mind, it turned out well.
Dandaman327 plays a Gibson Les Paul Standard, Lemon Drop finish.
I play 3 different Les Pauls in the recording.
Dan played the first part up to 42 seconds.
I play from 42 seconds until 1min38secs on an Epiphone Les Paul Custom Black Beauty, with a seymour duncan JB bridge pickup.
Dan plays from 1min38secs until 2mins36secs
I play from 2min36secs until 2mins56secs on an Epiphone Les Paul Custom Prophecy EX EMG 81 bridge pickup.
I play 2mins56 until the end on an Epiphone Les Paul Custom 3+ with a Duncan Distortion bridge pickup.
Pictures of my Les Pauls are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rowbinet/sets/72157619982575926/
a photo of Dan with I think his les paul (or it could be a PRS) but for now let's assume it's the LP is on his profile here: http://line6.com/community/people/dandaman327

an idea... that sounds interesting ![]()
yeah good call on the winter... i.e. more people indoors.
here's me and my 2000 tokai love rock
taken a few years ago in my local legion.
here's a pic of my home made e-drums and my other guitar you were wondering about
it's a godin xtsa 3 voice and is way more fun than heinz pickles........LOL.
the boards are a boss gt-6 and a roland gr-20 .
if you look at my tokai pic i had the roland pickup installed but it doesn't track the synth
good enough.........so i ordered the godin !!!!!!
another shot of me an my paul
if yer gonna post of me an the paul '
i'd perfer you use this one.
wow, you've got some cool gear there. home made V drums eh. cool. and i like the crate power block I saw in your first pic. i have one of those up on a shelf just in case ![]()
i love the colour of the LP, it's lush. and it sounds great. I've many times nearly bought a tokai LP, but I've always ended up seeing an epiphone on special that I liked. they're still not gibsons either, but Epiphone customs play just as well as the gibson LP studio's and standards that my friends have, and in some cases better
as I'm sure is the case with your Tokai.
if it's okay with you, can I use the 1st and last picture in the vid (basically you with your Les Paul) so that we've got more than one pic of it??
Cheers
