Free Pod Farm Plug In

Anyone see this yet? Now through Sep 30th Podfarm VST is free for all Line6 account users for Line6 devices or Ilok. Pretty cool if you ask me, though I already have Pod Studio UX2 with the plug in.
Yes. I quickly took advantage of that offer. You can't beat free. I'd purchased a Toneport back before the Pod Farm plugin was included so I didn't have it. I've tested the plugin with Sonar and it works great. Thank you Line 6!
Excellent offer! Thank-you Line 6!
Yes think you line 6 though I haven't figured out quite how to use this free stuff quite yet with just my Podxtl ... I will figure it out eventually.
I'm having the same problem. Any help would be appreciated if you have any breakthroughs. I'll hit you up if I get there myself.
A quick rundown on the plugin.
When you install Pod Farm - it installs the vst plugin in your default plugins folder if you have one if you tell it to - or else it installs it in a Line folder. Search for Pod Farm.dll and you'll find it. You can either copy it to your regular plugins folder - or point your recording software to the folder the dll is in.
When you download the free vst - you have to authorize it with monkey over the internet with the addons tab.
The Pod Farm plugin is like Guitar Rig, Amplitube etc. and only works as a vst plugin in your recording software.
Whatever model packs you have on the device will also be in the plugin. Buying more model packs for the device will also make them available in the plugin.
You "insert" in on an audio track.
For Pods - you have to use the dry sends (7 and 8 stereo) and you will be recording a dry track. You can monitor the Pod - or you can monitor the plugin according to the preset you have chosen. You are recording over usb - not the other outputs. So you select the Pod in the software if you normally use a different sound card.
For Toneports - you record the 1 and 2 input and monitor the plugin - or sends 3/4 which are dry - and monitor the Toneport. Leaving the Pod Farm and Gearbox standalones closed - will send the dry signal over sends 1 and 2.
If you monitor the device - you will be recording something different which sounds like the tuner (dry) unless you select a preset in the plugin which is the same as the settings on the Pod. But either way - the track will always be dry and gets processed by the plugin in real time. It's only when you mix it down that the tone becomes permanent.
I always monitor the plugin when I record - then turn off the monitor button when I'm done. Then I can change the presets all I want - without harming the recording. Cubase has a button for that.
I also record two tracks at a time with as many as 4 amps in total - then mix them up and experiment with the fx to see what it sounds like. It's great for satisfying your curiousity about "what if I had more or less of this or that?"
Ampfarm is a Protools thing supported by Digidesign - not Line 6.
Thanks. I couldn't find it in my Reaper VST list. I'll tomorrow to find where it is.
You are correct, sir. The VST plugin did not work, did not even show up in my list of installed VST plugins until I activated my free Pod Farm via Monkey. It is free, but it still has to be actvated because it's the real deal. Not a crippled down version in other words.
Thank you Bumpy the .dll search was successful and I put it in the proper vst folder in my DAW. Normally Sonar spots any new vst period ...anyway I got the vst plug-in working using the Podxtl and it is cool that it recognizes all my model pack add-ons for use and that I can apply dual tones when re-amping ...too
I wish there was someway way I could listen and adjust before recording it and applying it ...like monitoring in realtime my adjustments ...then when I find a dual tone I am happy with apply it and move on. ![]()
Or maybe there is and I just haevnt figured it out yet.
I've done the search for the .dll and Vista can't find it. I've uninstalled and re-installed and still nada. Lil help. I'm using the latest version Reaper just now and like wise it usually detects new plugs.
P.S.
I've done all the verification and activation stuff.
Apologist - there should be a "monitor" button on the track that lets you hear the processing of the plugin when you play. Otherwise you would hear a dry plunk plunk - unless you are monitoring the Pod - then you hear the Pod amps and effects.
After recording - you have to turn the monitor off or you won't hear the recording.
EDIT - if the monitor isn't on - you don't hear anything when you play - if you monitor a track with no plugin on it - you hear plunk plunk.
Dasvox open control panel - folder options - and check off "show hidden files and folder" and uncheck "hide extensions for known file types" - then the search will find it.
But if you re-install again - there is a screen that says it will install the vst in a line 6 folder. You can browse to your Reaper plugins folder and it will go there instead.
Again thanks Bumpy Ill check on that in a few ..
THANKS BUMPY! It took some doin but I got it. And then when you choose it as an effect, it first comes up as a very generic looking interface. There is a UI (user interface) button. All good after that.
Thanks Line 6!!! I'm guessing it only works for Line 6 gear that does NOT already have the model packs? Is there a way I can just download Ampfarm directly into my computer? Do I have to use an iLok??? ![]()

I already had it free with my X3L, but didn't have it for my Toneport KB37....which kinda sucked...and I didn't want to cough up another 100 US bucks.
So THANKS Line 6! ![]()
I'm in the same boat. I have pod farm free with the X3 Live and but not with my kb37. Do you know of a way to use pod farm with the kb37 aside from dropping another $100? thanks
Is this offer only for september or can you use it in october for example too, if you ahve downloaded it in september?
what you get is a free 'license' if you take advantage of your chance to do so in September.
Once you have a license..it's yours to keep using after that.
So they are giving away free licenses until after Sept 30.
Do you have to have/use a Line 6 hardware product??? I downloaded it and tried to use it as a stand alone. It opens and the GUI works but does not produce any sound. If I have to pull out my PODxt to use this freebie then it's pointless, I'll just use the PODxt!!!

Yes your PodXT becomes a big liscense dongle. It just needs to be on, but you can plug in to something else if you wanted. It could still be useful to you if you just want to use it to add reverbs or delays to tracks after recording etc.
Nah, it's cool. Maybe later if I run into a UX-1 or something of the like. I actually thought POD Farm was AMP Farm.
I also have hoards of VST plug-ins that do just about everything under the sun so this whole thing wouldn't work for me. I thought it would let me semi-retire my PODxt. Thanks for the help Slingy! ![]()

WooHoo!!! I stopped at two tracks with dual tones with four different ridiculous high gain amps with four different 412s. Didn't even mess with tweaking Q's or anything. This must be what Heaven is like. I stopped there cause I was monitoring through a home stereo and I might have blown some tweets. Replaceable. And worth it. Adam Jones would love this. Can't wait to try it through my studio monitor system. 2000 watts and four 15" Carvin CTS wedges.
Thanks again Bumpy!
I'm a bit confused. I already downloaded PodFarm-I have the XTL. Does this mean I can use it as a VST, but I have to have the XTL connected to get it to work? Or do I have to download this version of PodFarm and use it with the XTL?
Can I use it as a standalone VST if the XTL isn't connected, say if I wanted to effect already recorded tracks?
Your XT needs to be on to authorize it whether you plug into the XT, another device, or just use it on some dry tracks. If you have an Ilok device you could download a version that uses the Ilok for authorization. Not entirely convenient but hey it is free.
HELP!, folks, call me a newbie, but I managed to get the licence onto my ILOK (a feat for me!) but I never found a download to install POD FARM onto the computer? Is there a link to the download or what? Thanks for helping! (I'm using ProTools 8 M powered)![]()
Welcome. Click the download link at the top and select Ilok as your product, Podfarm as the software, and your operating system. Scroll down for the installer.
IF it was a snake , it would have bitten me! Thanks!
So, if I'm understanding this correctly, the only added functionality for me, as an X3Live user, is that I can re-amp dry tracks in my DAW, but I still have to plug in the hardware unit? Not worth the trouble. Would have been useful, if I only needed the hardware unit to authorize, then I could leave my stage rig in the van.
That is correct but X3 and X3L already come with the plug in.
I DL'd the plugin anyway, and I can now see a few uses for it; I can use my regular interface and studio monitors, (multiclient drivers don't work on my system, and I prefer not to use the X3L as an interface, because it doesn't have phantom power) multiple instances will be handy for pianos and stuff while I use the hardware for bass and vocals or whatever-it basically gives me lots more channels of simultaneous processing, which is pretty cool. I might even get the silly dongle, so I can leave my stage rig in the van, heh. (I didn't have the plugin already, cuz I bought my X3L in December of '07)
All X3's are permanently liscensed to use the plug in already, right?
I don't know if anyone else has encountered this issue using Sonar PE 8 but I have noticed sometimes when applying the Amp Farm over the dry track it will playback properly the first time ..but subsequent playbacks cause the audio engine to make a buzzing hum that drowns all sound on track out ..Ill try it again this week and see if ti was maybe related to something else but that's really gonna be annoying if it continues.
Also I was wondering if I get the UX1 to record with ..is it possible using the Pod Farm software via the UX1 to split a signal and one guitar go direct to UX1 using Podfarm direct ...and the split signal go direct to Spider Valve and out the XLR of SVHD100 to the input of the XLR in of the UX1 to record a dry signal that can be re-amped and a processed signal from the SVHD100 via XLR?
I think you are now entering the twilight zone. You want to reamp through the spider valves digital preamp? Holy moly just put a mic in front of it already.
I think you may've mis-read my intent:
I wish to record dry via the UX1 main guitar input for reamping with the Pod Farm Amps but at same time record a separate track with the XLR out wet signal of the SV which can be done while in standby at night when I do much of my recording ...I would also like the ability to mic up the SV into this same XLR input on the UX1 during the day ...so I have lots of different tone options to choose from off of one take ..if that makes sense.
Well that makes sense. I'm pretty sure youd need a seperate splitter for your guitar signal. So you would go - Guitar/Splitter/One to SV-SV to XLR input/Other signal to instrument input/Dual Tone patch both set to dry. This will let you reamp wih PodFarm, but not through SV.
What might be the coolest is just recording the SV while making a post effects chain in Podfarm.
Ya see I was thinking of monitoring the wet signal from SV through UX1 headphones while dry tracks of same session are being recorded via UX1Pod Farm for later re-amping at night and then just blasting during weekends at daytime and micing to the UX1 xlr input to get as many tone options for final tracks as possible.
Wow. Glad I finally clicked on this. Thanks Slingy.
Man I wish I had seen this Yesterday. I really want the plug in but was waitin to shell out the bucks. Oh well you snooze you looze
Perhaps some Line 6 admin will read your post and offer you an extension.
Hey Line 6! <hint, hint>
Dont feel too bad about missing the free offer......I missed it also...lol
Any one know if it's possible to control this from a Pod with a floor board and if so how.
I downloaded a license activation key during this promotion, but apparently I forgot about it and never downloaded the plugin itself. Am I out of luck as well, or is there still some way to get it?
I downloaded the Free Pod Farm Plug In way back in September. I need to re-install it because I recently got my computer fixed. What do I do? Please help me.

I believe you can simply download the Podfarm 1 application and install it. The liscense is authorized in the Line6 device. Or else click on the my account link and copy paste the liscense key into the line6 monkey.
Thanks.
