Got a newsletter from Vettaville, and I saw a couple of posts online. IT'S HERE!!! Hopefully they'll update the Line 6 site soon so we can get more details/sounds/videos.
PRESS RELEASE: Line 6, the industry leader in digital modeling technology for music creation products, launched today its new Spider Valve MkII guitar amplifiers. The latest collaborative effort from Line 6 and Reinhold Bogner, the new amp line offers the flexibility of world-class modeling, the performance of boutique-style tube-amp design and many new features inspired by the original Spider Valve amplifiers, the line's award-winning predecessors.
"Spider Valve MkII amplifiers offer all the warmth and punch you'd expect from Reinhold Bogner, one of the top names in boutique amplifier design," comments Aaron Suplizio, Line 6 product marketing manager.
"Plus, combined with the most advanced Line 6 amp models to date, premium effects, a direct-record output and extensive MIDI control, Spider Valve MkII is a complete package for all kinds of professional guitarists."
The new amplifier line is well-rounded with two 40-watt combos and a powerful 100-watt head. The Bogner-designed preamp and power sections add boutique-style response to the Line 6 modeling: 12AX7 preamp tubes deliver creamy, cascading distortions and enriched tube harmonics; perfectly matched 6L6 power tubes (two in each combo; four in the head) drive the Celestion Vintage 30 speakers to provide unprecedented sonic impact.
Each Spider Valve MkII amplifier features 16 rich-sounding amp models and 20 brilliant on-board Smart FX. The amp models, inspired by the most celebrated modern and vintage guitar tones, provide the next generation in Line 6 amp tone.
The on-board effects deliver a complete palette of colors and textures including a collection of beautiful delays, tangy mods and lush reverbs. Players also get access to cutting-edge effects including the astonishingly responsive Smart Harmony, a built-in looper, auto-wah and more. Four effects can be used simultaneously and edited completely to create the perfect sonic landscapes. Plus, every working player's dream, Spider Valve MkII amplifiers can save up to 128 user-programmed presets.
Foot-controller and MIDI connectivity make Spider Valve MkII the essential studio and stage centerpiece. A Line 6 FBV foot controller can add a volume/wah pedal, tap tempo for all time-based effects, control over Pitch Glide, an easy-to-read LCD chromatic tuner display and more.
No mention of a tube pre! ![]()
Strymon is still in business!
Sounds good to me, the effects part of it! The Original SV is great! So this should even be better!
here's a pic of the head and a link to the combos (at the bottom of the page).

i thought you would've been the first to know! ![]()
Welcome onboard... We all knew it for a while ;-)
well we all knew it was coming haha now it's just officialy haha apparently it gained the "hi-gain" amp that the spider iv did.
;-)
Cant wait to try one out. Wonder if it sounds better than my Pod X3 & Atomic Reactor 112-50 (witch sounds really good)
But I guess it will take some time before they cross the Atlantic, and hit the stores in Norway ![]()
Thor
Geez, you guys are fast!
Here's some 'bigger pictures for you
i was only fast because of your newsletter Vettaville haha![]()
I'll sent it out slowly next time :-)
an alchemest style preamp could make me wet in the pants ![]()
Whats so special about the Alchemists preamp?
Very excited. Hope the channel/master volume could be fixed somehow right out of the box.
That issue has been completely fixed out of the box.

one thing new and interesting over the old spider valve is the new XLR direct out. NOW you have two modes-- One WITH tubes still in the loop and one without. I want one of these amps. Liked the older one but this has so much more flexability and tweeking ability.
I've had the pleasure of playing the MKII already, and am very impressed!
Well I've checked with local people and no one has any in stock to try even in Nashville yet so maybe next weekend ...
I think as soon as it becomes available I'm getting one from Musician's Friend ...especially since the high gain blue models the Diezel series which I love.
Not to be an enabler, but you should check out the new FBV Shortboard too. I was blown away at the ease of use with the SV MKII and FBV. Whereas I used to be a "rack whiz" many years ago, these days anything with more than 6 controls spins me in circles. I was able to dial in, save and pull up presets with ease on this setup.
On another note, I was very impressed with the diatonic pitch shifter in the SV MKII.
very cool Bob ,
if you take the fx, out of the equation .
Would you say there is a very big difference between the amp models .I know you had/have the mk1.
..Line6 Miller what did you guys do to level the volume .is the master now programmable per preset ??
is there a power control in the setup that lets the amps run in a lower power mode??
I spent just about all of my time on the high gain models only, but my answer would be a resounding yes. I found the voicing characteristics of each model to be more distinct across the board than the previous version.
Yeah I want to hear more about the amps too, that was one thing I noticed about the Mk1 there wasnt much distinction from the mid gain type amps. WHen they would break up the sounded very similar. also, for the delays can you set the tap tempo to .1/8th note? I needs to sound like the edge, its a disease I have.
I noticed the same thing, which is why the voicing differences were such a pleasant surprise. I didn't play with the clean or mid-gain stuff enough to have formed an opinion, but based upon the high gain tones, I would surmise that the mid-gain models will also exhibit the greater distinctions.
It's been a while since I played the MKII, but I *think* you could set musical intervals for the delays. Don't hold me to that one...
Sounds awesome, loos like a MK2 and a svpre are both in my future. The first SV jsut didnt sound that good recorded to me, other amps sounded way better, I tweaked for a long time and tried it with alot of different speakers, some sounded better than others. There seemed to be to much low mid around 60hz that growled it up in a bad way for me and some upper harshness as well. All things I think that could be fixed in the new one. To say the least im excited!
Bob, I know this a a crazy question ,but I was looking at the preset list and there are 3 of them that have Savage in the title .are those yours by any chance???
That's not too crazy.
Yep, I spent some time with the amp and configured a bank of four presets. One may have been dropped.
By the way, where did you find the presets? It could be my browser is having a problem, but I see a listing for the manual, but no actual download link.
Edit: Nevermind, I found them. Octave Juice is likely a preset I configured as well. The pitch shifter works excellent, so I setup a preset that uses it, dropped an octave.
where did you find them???:)
Oi Bob!
Long time no see!
Do you need to have a brasilian holiday?
![]()
Hey Looney!! Sure, I'll take holidays of any kind, shape or form. ![]()
Bought mine with new floorboard tonight ships on the 12th will letcha know how she sounds when she gets here.
I don´t have an MK-II but the "One" is plenty loud! ![]()
It would be great! How?

hello there, just heard about the mkII... now the question .. what is the diference between the "spider valve 100hd" and this "mkII head" on the pictures look the same, which one is better?..![]()

The most notable would be deep editing of the onboard effects as opposed to the often times overpowering mix level of the old SV. Also more effect options are offered IH for instance and backwards delay and compression in the stomp section etc... and more effects at once.
It also has midi capability for more control options.
Also the xlr out for direct recording or going to a mixing board has options to make it sound better depending on circumstance including recording monitoring while in standby ..no headphones on the MKII head but you could monitor via the UX1 by line 6 for example.
Also two new amp sets ...the AC30 chimey cleans ...and the new High Gain series one of which models the Diezel style gain which I cant wait to hear quite frankly I feel like a kid at Christmas waiting for my stuff to ship Oct. 12th lol. ![]()
Isn´t there a looper too?

Yup.
Cheers,
Fester2k
Ya there's a looper and other new goodies other than what's been mentioned here I just didn't want to make an exhaustive list of every single effect difference between the two ... suffice to say there's plentyof new goodies though the looper was a big oversite on my part in not mentioning such a major feature.. ![]()
Based on my experience with my new Spider IV-75, it must be one heck of a great amp. The non tube one has some seriously great tone in it.
And I'm generally not a fan of Modelling amps at all. I tend to love line6 s computer based stuff ( I normally use a TonePort UX2 into a laptop with
a pair of M-Audio BX5A Powered studio moniters in my practice room (Absolute tone machine). I Usually find modelling amps lacking a certain presence for lack
of a better word. Probably because even with modelling amps you still need a little bit of speaker sound pressure to sound best to me.
The IV seems to be the same but under moderate volume it really sounds great and is quite acceptable at low volumes. The Tube one I'd wager will sound
excellent at moderate to higher volumes.
are some of the amp models one the Mk 1 and Mk 2 exactly the same? I was reading and besides the gretsch, orange, divied 13 9/15, and diszel it looks like all the other amp models are the same? Will they sound they same or are they updated versions of the same ones?
From what I understand, all of the amp models are different simply because the MKII is using models based off of the XT/X3 amp models whereas the MKI used amp models based off POD 2.0 models. So even though the models may be of the exact same amp, they will probably sound and react a bit different. The same amps sounded considerably different in the POD XT than they did in the POD 2.0.
Can we use our "old" fbv shortboard?
