UX2/Pod Farm: Volume Pedal & Footswitch use?

Hi,

I am trying to use a volume pedal with my UX2. Can someone confirm that this is possible at all? The UX2 has 2 'footswitch' outputs and I have tried connecting various volume/expression pedals to both of them, including a genuine Line6 volume pedal, but it does not work. In fact, I can't get any footswitch to do anything..... It would be good to be able to use a latch-type footswitch to do punch-in and out during recording/overdubbing. I would be grateful for any hints and tips. I read all the documentation I could find, but to no avail.

After a bit more research I found out that (possibly) the UX2 footswitch inputs can only be used with the Line 6 Gearbox software and are then MIDI assignable. I use PodFarm. What does Gearbox do? Can I install and use it alongside PodFarm in order to be able to use the footswitch outputs?

What am I supposed to do to resolve this? I would really appreciate an answer to clarify this.

  I was wondering the same thing..
  
  I'm planing to buy UX2 over UX1 only because it can be used with footswitch or effect pedal (such as Wah...)
  And now all i'm reading that this is not posible or it can be done only with GearBox...
  
  Well it hs 2 inputs for footswitch so there must be a way to do something.
  In all of their documentation, nowhere it says something useful..

Only the UX2 & above models has the Footswitch Option/s available.

Go to Page 2.3 (10 of 53)

And you will see this:

And this utility is found in the "Line 6 Audio/Midi devices" in "Control Panel"

You will need a Contact Closure switch such as the Boss FS-6 (This is a Dual model, with latchable options and phase selection, but it uses a 9V Battery to power the Lights)

Hello,
The UX2 has two pedal inputs, which can use two standard toggle or momentary pedal switches into the Footswitches jacks for remote control of GearBox and audio application functions. There is noway to control the Expression pedal (i.e. wah) from the UX2, put this option is available for the UX8 and the KB37. You can also use the FBV Mk II controller to control various functions for Gearbox. See the Gearbox manual (4*13) and the following link for more information.

  But I dont't see any point of those footswitch inputs in new line of UX2 (not Toneport) if it can't be used (with POD Farm).
  
  It would be great to use LINE6 FBV Shortboard MkII with POD Farm and control 13 sounds + wah/volume pedal with your foot..

  Thanks very much for your answer and also for everyone else's input. This clarifies what is possible with these footswitch inputs on the UX2, but what I still don't understand is: does it work with PodFarm? I do not use GearBox. As I asked above: should I be? What does it do? I understand that GearBox is an older (outdated?) software and PodFarm is the way forward. I like it very much and it works very well.

  Can the FBV MK II be use to control and make preset with the UX2 and Gearbox and function like the Pod X3 Live which we can arrange preset and assign effect to each button. I have bought all the add on and have them all in my Gearbox.

Same problem here

Can someone from Line 6 tell us what should we do to use wah pedal in Pod Farm?

Hello,

MIDI in POD Farm has not been implemented yet but we're working on it for the next release. I don't have an ETA on when that will be but I can assure you we are going to get it in.
