Do I need ASIO drivers?

Hi all,
sorry if this has been answered before (if it has feel free to direct me towards the answer) but here goes.
I have a Toneport KB37 using gearbox. I have lost my live lite install disc so I am using an old copy of Guitar Tracks pro 3 (from cakewalk). Problem is this. The sound sounds fine when I am playing but on playback I get a kind of clicking noise. I have set up my input and output drivers to be the KB37.
I seam to remember when I used Ableton Live Lite I didnt have this problem - Unfortunately I have needed to reinstall my computer and therefore no longer have my initial setup available to me. But I think I remember having to install 3rd party ASIO drivers - could this be my problem?
My system is a 2.8Ghtz dual core intel system with 4GB memory - realtek onboard sound running windows XP pro.
Any suggestions?
OK I am part way there.... On reading other posts on the forum I have d/l a copy of Reaper and I don't have any sound problems with this, so it would appear that the sound problems are to do with the cakewalk software rather than my drivers. But now I have another problem. The toneport has more than 1 input but I cant work out how to have 2 separate lines recording at the same time (IE guitar and vocals on separate tracks).
In looking at other posts I tried D/L ASIO4all and although it is recognised I still don't appear to use the separate inputs..
Any help appreciated.
Cheers
John
sounds like maybe you didnt turn the metronome off in GT3. When you open GT3 look in the upper left corner. There is the Tempo box, mine is default at 100bpm. Right below that there is a red circle and a yellow circle. Click on the red circle to turn the metronome off while recording. Hope this helps.
