Alice in Chains - Man in the Box (cover, no vocals)

Just finished mixing this today.  I used my POD X3 Live, Reverend V, and Reaper for the entire recording:

Track Notes:

Track 1: Backing track with bass and drums only. Found at: http://www.guitarbackingtrack.com/bts/Alice_In_Chains.htm. The intro and outro sections are a bit messed up, but it's the best backing track I could find.

Track 2: Rhythm 1 - Panned 25% Left, modeled with the lead channel of a 1992 Marshall? JCM-900, close-mic'd with a Sennheiser? MD 421 and Mu-Tron? III envelope follower (auto-wah).

Track 3: Solo 1 (wah parts) - Panned full left, modeled with the lead channel of a Peavey 5150 MkII, SM57 on-axis, Vetta Wah, and Line6 Digital Delay.

Track 4: Solo 2 (treble pickup part) - Panned full right at the start of the solo and then switches back and forth for the last couple of measures.
Modeled with a Matchless Chieftan, SM57 off-axis, and Chandler Tube Driver.

Track 5: Rhythm 2 - Panned 25% Right - Carbon copy of the rhythm 1 track, but modeled with a 2002 Bogner Uberschall and Neumann? U67 Condenser mic with Mu-Tron? III envelope follower (auto-wah).

For this recording, learned a lot about setting envelopes for volume, panning, and plugin FX. For example, for the solo parts, the wah position was recorded post-performance using the Line 6 "wah position" effect parameter. Re-amping continues to be a blast. There's nothing like changing your amps, mic placement, and effects on-the-fly, post performance. I added compression to the master track, but still a very rough mix and I still need to learn about mixing and mastering. That's what the next recording is for! Enjoy!
