Can I exchange my Pod Farm Studio liscences for Ilok Podfarm liscences.

Hello,
I have been using the Pod Farm software for a while now and it is great software, expecially for the price, but I am getting to the point where I want to use it on other people's pro tools systems without having to carry my UX2 along. I already have a free version of basic PodFarm that Line6 gave me for my iLok device. I know that you cannot simply transfer liscences from a Line6 product to an iLok liscence, but would it be possible for you to take all of the upgrade packs, kill their registration and exchange them out for an Ilok liscence.
I realize that this would leave my UX2 fairly barebones with only podfarm basic registered to it, but my iLok is pretty much glued to my hand whenever I go anywhere, so that wouldn't be a problem. when I am playing through the UX2, i could just use my iLok.
Is there any way that you could please do this for me?
Thank You very much

I think lots of us would like this option, but the LIne6 hardware and the iLok world are two separate walled gardens and no licences may pass between them.
Trust me, I'd do it if I could, too. Right now, I'm using a PodXT simply as a dongle! I have a DI box, and I record everything dry, with the PodFarm plug in active to do the modeling. I would MUCH prefer an iLok, since I have two main rigs and carrying the PodXT and the power supply between them is a hassle.
But I'm afraid the answer to your question is "no".
Nathan, I know that they are completely separate liscences, I addressed that in my post. there are a ton of questions on the forum about transferring liscences, but I am talking about actually invalidating the liscences and exchanging it for a completely different one, I didnt see a question about that. It is possible to do, but it is a matter of whether or not a line 6 rep would be willing to do it, or if they are allowed to do it. Is there a better way to ask about this?
That message seems kind of terse, I dont mean to be rude; it is hard to get tone of voice across in an internet forum.
Hey if you are successful, lots of us would love to do that too. From what Line6 has said:
You can transfer licenses freely from one LIne6 device to another. And you can transfer licenses freely from one ilock to another. But they don't have a tool or method, neither through the electronic devices nor through manual intervention, to "transfer from one platform to the other" or "cancel and then replace on another platform".
Hmm, well I didnt see that part about ""nor through manual intervention, to... or "cancel and then replace on another platform"."" That pretty much means no.
Maybe I'll just buy a used GX for cheap(the little tiny pod studio port), then transfer the liscences to it and sell my ux2. It seems entirely possible to kill the liscences and replace them with a different one, probably line 6 doesnt want to do it because of the massive influx of people who would be requesting it.

To be fair, you didn't see that summarized easily because it's not summarized that way. I gathered this from discussions here rather than a single policy statement. I'd love to be wrong.

Yes, I would guess at a few factors:
1. Lots of manual work for Line6
2. Perhaps licensing agreements that differ between Line6 hardware support and ilock support.
3. Different accounting rules or business groups supporting each platform.
4. Perhaps it's an iLock rule that Line6 has no influence over, or there is a cost there (ie, Line6 can transfer freely on their own devices, but going through iLock costs $$$).

My solution is kind of like yours: Get the smallest cheapest Line6 device that I can transfer everything to -- which, on the used market, is probably less than the cost of an iLock (though if one already has an iLock then one doesn't need to buy another) -- and transfer all my licences, and sell my more expensive Line6 hardware.

My IDEAL solution would actually to be able to transfer my Line6 device's licenses to a Steinberg key, so that everything would be on one dongle. But you can guess how likely my ideal solution is....
Hello,
Unfortunately, we have no way to do this at this time. It has been requested so it's possible it may be evaluated int he future but i don't know for sure.
What you should do is submit a feature request for this.
