Recording with UX8

Hi - I'm considering getting a UX8 as an upgrade for my Line6 UX1.
I'm trying to record a 4-person band setup at the moment and we're finding it difficult to sync and get us playing in time to one another. How we've been doiing it is by having dual line-in 1+2, and recording in pairs.
With the UX8 having the 8 line-inputs I was wondering GearBox would be able to send 4 line inputs to my recording program (Sony Acid).
At the moment under Source in Gearbox we've been using "Line 1 & 2" - I was wondering if we're using a UX8 whether there'd be an option for sometihng like "Line 1 - 4" to record us all at the same time?
Thanks,
J
you can record 8 tracks at one time. I record my bands rehearsals using the UX8 with Garageband. The meters on the UX8 can only monitor one pair of outputs.
Awesome - thanks - was wondering if we connected let's say 4 line inputs and recorded them, could we get effects/amp models working on each?
Main reason I use Line 6 is for Gearbox really, and hoping to record all of us at the same time through line-in. Worried that Gearbox might not have the option to do something like Source: Line 1-4, or something similar.
Thanks!
What you COULD do is use route one of the tones that can't be modelled into your recording software, and then use the gearbox VST as an inline effect, monitoring the output. There's a lot more latency this way for that part, but id will work if you're desperate.

Hello, I use the UX8 as well and no you will not be able to model 4 different inputs. You can of course track 8 channels at once but only model on input 1&2. Now bass, although not fantastic could be recorded direct and at least audible, that would let you re-amp it later.
Gearbox will only let you control inputs 1&2 while you would use the Control panel to assign, pan, route the other inputs.
So, you have four guitarists?
I am just curious on what you would model 4 channels of?
Me personally, I double track some scratch guitars to a metronome (I dumb things down if needed and go 100% for timing), then use all 8 inputs to track drums to the scratch guitar. I then go back and re-track the guitars and add bass as well as vox.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
