Recording Gearbox

Hey - I corrected a reinstall of a Gearport/Gearbox that I got several years ago. Although I'm excited about using it to rebuild my lead playing, I am interested in recording some of what I play. If I upload a rhythm track and jam over it, how do I record using just Gearbox?
You can't. Gearbox is not a recording program.
I was afraid you might say that. How would you compare RiffWorks to a product like Acid Music Studio?
I know I'm trying to have my cake and eat it too - I don't want to give up the Line6 tones but I want home recording software that will let me construct whole songs and not overemphasize the guitar. Will RiffWorks let me do that?
I'm not familiar with Acid Music Studio nor Riffworks, but I know many Line 6 users also use Riffworks - it has line 6 Edition I believe, and a trial period.
There are many, many recording programs. If you're just starting you might want to try something simple (and free!) like Audacity. There are also inexpensive products like Cakewalk's Music Creator. There's also Ableton Live whicvh I know many Line 6 users recommend.
There's also a discussion forum here in the Line area that focuses on Home Recording. You miught get some tips here:

Hope this helps.
