Flagellating an expired equine

Ok... I have an AX2 212 that I bought new in 1998. I still use it on occasion, mostly for rehearsal. Recently I saw an amazing conversion on eBay. I bid on it, but one thing or the other kept me from going back and I lost it. It was an AX2 that had been converted into a head and closed back cabinet. It was covered in red tolex and was beautiful! That got me thinking again... converting mine to something like that would make it far more useful to me. Has anyone done this (I know the Tumeni (sp) brothers did) successfully? Did you do it yourself or go somewhere like this: http://www.vibroworld.com/parts/tech21.html#cuscab. Just curious. Thanx!
I have seen a couple of those...Wish I had done that to my old AX2...Darn things are so heavy...Quite a few folks on the forum have done head conversions to various Line 6 combos...The ideal approach is to build a new head box, cover it, bolt the amp in abd put the handle back on...At that point you could just use a 212 or 412 cab...I don't think I would ever cut down the combo cabinet...makes it reversable...basic capentry is all you realy need to do it...
BTW - you light blue guitar is almost as obnoxious as my canary yellow...not quite...nice ax! ![]()
Well, then I'm doomed... I am an idiot when it comes to carpentry and such... I can work on computers, guitar gear, and the like, but building something... just don't have the knack. Guess I need to find someone that needs computer work and trade skills!
