Editor won't run; errors aplenty

OK, so the Pocket Pod works. Usb works. Device found, midi channels open. MacBook Pro works is running 10.4.11 like always. The only thing I've changed is to update to editor 1.17. I've now done that a couple of times, restarted everything, etc.
Whenever I start launch the editor, I get "error resding SQEditor config file" and "there are no drivers in Line6 PocketPod.ini to load." Then the "loading" graphic. Then a blank gray window labeled "Vyzex Pocket Pod." And that's as far as it goes.
The whole setup worked ok before I updated the editor software, but now it's too late to go back. What are your suggestions?
Thanks,
- Phil
Hi Phil,
The best thing to try is a manual clearing of all the settings and configuration files, followed by a re-installation.
Mac OS X Tiger/Leopard/Snow Leopard Manual Uninstallation Instructions:
(Assuming you installed to Macintosh HD and your user name is USER)
1. Applications : Vyzex Pocket POD : Trash this application.
2. Macintosh HD : Library : Application Support : Psicraft : Vyzex Pocket POD: Trash this folder.
3: USER : Library : Preferences : Sound Quest Preferences.ini : If Vyzex PocketPOD is your only Vyzex editor, then you can trash this. Otherwise open it with textedit, delete the text blocks with the headings containing Line 6 Pocket POD and then save the file on exit. This file is the software's answer to the Windows registry when running on Mac, incidentally.
4: USER : Library : Preferences : Psicraft : Vyzex Pocket POD: Trash this folder.
5: USER : Documents : Psicraft : Vyzex Pocket POD : Enter this folder and trash only the Default.SQ9 file contained within. The other files in this folder (and subfolders) are your collection and any data files you may have created with the editor, so don't trash these if you value them at all.
You can then proceed to re-installing the v1.17 editor.
Please let me know how it goes. We'll get you sorted out.
Cheers,
Tony
Yikes, no wonder I couldn't find all of those components myself.
Now I get a different error: "autosense could not find the pod" etc. But, the mac finds the pod ok, and it seems to work.
For that matter, the 1.17 update is definitely better than whatever version I had. Usability is much improved.
Thanks.
Hi Phil,
Now that our developers have mastered postflight scripting in PackageMaker, our latest installers strip out these config files automatically on installation, so future upgrades won't require a manual clean-out if anything goes wrong.
If the initial AutoSense is failing but the USB port then becomes available, this suggests your USB port is intermittent when used with Pocket POD: You should try the other port on your mac with the PocketPOD instead.
Please let us know how it goes.
Tony
