Vyzex Pocket POD Software 1.17 never worked

hello,
i have a apple power book 15" 1.67ghz. MacOSX 10.4.11
i bought my pocket pod in 2007. in time i installed the Vyzex Pocket POD software (i can't remember what version)
but the Vyzex Pocket POD software never started up cause a dialogue window said there's no midi or something choose ...
when i pressed the ok button in this window the turning wheel from MacOSX turned forever and the Vyzex Pocket POD just didn't started up.
then i had enough from all these troubles with Vyzex Pocket POD and i didn't try used the Vyzex Pocket POD software anymore until
today more than two years later. cause today i tried to install the actual version of Vyzex Pocket POD 1.17 (after reinstalling my whole MacOSX system at least 2 times in the meantime).
today with another MacOSX Version (10.4.11) and the new Vyzex Pocket POD version 1.17 the same problem happen as in 2007.
i tried to get information in the Vyzex Pocket POD forum but i couldn't find help as in 2007. i deleted all the files and preferences who belongs to Vyzex Pocket POD from my system and reinstalled the Vyzex Pocket POD software but nothing happen the same problem as in 2007. i replaced the MQL6T.dylib file and so on but still nothing happen the software won't start up.
i'm really really disappointed about Vyzex Pocket POD and the Pocket POD hardware.
please help me to get the Vyzex Pocket POD software working. this is really the last try before i'll resell the Pocket POD cause there's no use for it without a software.
thanks
jürgen
Hi Jurgen,
It's too bad you never posted here with a description of your problem originally or searched the many threads we have here on this topic - If the MIDI ports cannot be found, there is no point in blaming the editor software. The problem on your computer lies at the USB level where PocketPOD is unable to connect via the USB port you have chosen.
On G4 MacBooks, there are two USB ports: One is routed through an internal hub and shared with the mouse and keyboard while another is not. Only the port that does not share with other internal devices will work with PocketPOD, so the first thing you should try is connecting your PocketPOD to the other USB port.
Let us know how it goes and we'll troubleshoot your case further.
Cheers,
Tony
hello tony,
thanks for your reply.
i've searches in the topics to get help for my problem.
and i've seen the topics about the usb port problem ...
but i'm the opinion things you pay money for it has to work without searching for hours or days to find the solution by yourself.
i wouldn't say this if i had not already tried in time 2007 to get this problem fixed by reading and writing.
so, it's hard to believe to me that's not a software problem cause almost everything has changed concerning the OS i've used in time and the OS i use now.
i completely reinstalled my laptop at least 2 times since i purchased pocket pod.
if it's really not a software problem i'll apologize what i've said.
but as i told i have a power book and not a macbook, anyway even on the older power book it seems to be the same problem on the right usb port the midi setup assistant from apple can't find the pocket pod. on the left usb port the pocket pod is recognized by the audio midi setup application from apple.
but still not recognized by the vyzek software.
it would be so nice if you could help me.
thanks in advance.

Hi Jurgen,
Once again, the problem is at the USB hardware level, so changing your OS is not going to resolve anything, unfortunately.
If both ports on your PowerBook do not work with your PocketPOD there is a possibility that your PocketPOD is the issue: Can you try connecting the PocketPOD to a different computer for a change? If it works on another computer then you know the issue is specific to your PowerBook, on the other hand if your PocketPOD has issues connecting to other computers as well then this indicates a USB port problem in the PocketPOD.
If your PowerBook is the source of the problem, one last alternative is for you to expand your notebook with an external USB port card: Does your PowerBook have an expansion card slot like a PC notebook? If so a USB port expansion card will likely work with your PocketPOD where the built-in USB ports do not.
Best regards,
Tony
hello tony,
i've installed the Vyzex software on my desktop computer (Mac G4 OS 10.4.11).
it's exactely the same problem.
the software don't start up and the mac osx turning wheel would turn for hours if i don't force to quit the software.
(this is all what i can see from the vyzex software. sometimes i can't see even not the frame of the software interface ... just the name of the software in the menu bar on the top)
also the same as on my laptop is that my G4 desktop reconize the pocket pod with the audio/midi setup application indegrated in Mac OSX.
the midi test with the audio/midi setup application says everything is ok.
i've even changend the usb cables and i used the main usb ports on the backside of my desktop.
i can't imagine that the pocket pod is the issue cause the problem was already there from the first day i purchased the pocket pod.
i've done all the updates (pocket pod software : version 1.01 and vyzex software : version 1.17).
after all this i still have to say the Vyzex Pocket POD Software 1.17 never worked.
i'm sorry for this and all the efforts you made to help me.
i know a little bit about computers and software and stuff like audio software.
i solved a lot of problems by myself in the past years.
but the pocket pod problem is something i never have seen before ...
anyway thanks for your efforts.
all the best
jürgen
We'll track down a G4 Mac with Tiger installed to verify your report (Our oldest test machine is a G5 iMac running Tiger and this has no issues). In the meantime, please try the software with a more recent processor and operating system.
I'll post back here when we know more.
Cheers,
Tony
hello tony,
thanks for your reply.
really sorry but i can't buy a newer computer or os system ...
and i don't think it make sense to try it on a friends computer
in the end the software should work on at least one of my two computer.
ok maybe it make sense to see if the pocket pod usb port works fine.
but i really don't think the pocket pod is the problem cause osx detect the pocket pod on both of my computers.
furthermore in 2007 when i purchased the pocket pod tiger was the update os version and the vyzex software version was 1.0?
at that time i had the same problems like today. so i really don't know what else to do.
thanks very much for your help.
best.
Jürgen
Jurgen,
Have you tried stripping out the configuration files and reinstalling? I just helped another Mac user with similar issues to yours and this worked for them:

At this point you certainly should give this a try!
