POD xt Live Setup Help

Good evening all,

I have been playing guitar for the last 15 years or so, mainly as a hobby, nothing serious.  I am thinking about getting in with a band and need to re-think some of my gear.  I have been using the Guitar Port for a while and love Gear Box but I have been feeling that I need more physically interactive gear.  I am going to purchase the POD XT Live.  What I am not educated about is studio/live set-ups.  I know that Line 6 has many "Amp" models.  In order to take advantage of these I don't think that it would be best to run my new XT Live through my old Peavy Bandit 112 guitar amp.  I was wondering what would be a good choice to come out of the XT Live with?  I was told that a couple of monitors or a power-amp and a half stack would be good too.  What do you think?  Any info would be a great help.  Thanks for reading!

Tim

    Hi there

I play in a semi pro band and use a line 6 XT live with Variax 600 guitar. My original set up was to fed the left and right channels from the XT live into mixing desk and then take an aux feed in to the power amp input on my peavey bandit. I have since replaced the peavey bandit with a simple powered monitor wedge for the on stage foldback. It works a treat and sound great.

Definetley a PA or powered speakers of some sort. Anything with full range speakers basically. I used to run through regular guitar amps (through the FX loop with cab and mic sims off) and its sufficient, but the PODs really shine when you run them through full range speakers. All guitar amps and cabs have their own certain sound which is gonna play with your POD sound slightly, could be for the better but generally its not. Try it out at a local guitar shop sometime, thats the beauty of those places, try before you buy!
