Variax 700 difficulty in battery mode

I just purchased a Variax 700.  When I try to use the gutar in battery mode with a standard guitar cable, I have difficulty getting the gutar to turn on.  If I re-insert the cable in and out I can usually get it to come on without any further problems until I unplug again.  I do not have the problem when I use the stereo cable with the power pedal.  I am using fresh and new rechaged batteries.  Any solutions?

first  thing  i might  try  os  another  guitar  cable  to   eliminate  that.   then  you  may  have  to check  your  connectors  on  the  output  for  the  guitar  cable  and  the  other  end  of  the  wires  where  the  battery connects  to the  main  board.  could  have   worked  loose.  those  are easy  enough  to check.

what  you said  earlier  is  your  not  having  problems  when  using   the  power  supply  and  stereo  cable  so  i think  that  would  eliminate    the  output  entirely  because  the  only real difference is  that  when  using  the  stereo  cable power  is   transmited  through  the  center  section.   the  shank is  common  ground  and  the  tip  positive  for  sound.  so   your  getting  ground  and  your  getting  positive  to the  tip  with  the  mono cable   theres   just no power  transmitted  but the  same  connections  sound  wise. so i think you need  to look elswhere.   its  true  that  when you plug  in your  regular  guitar cable  it  makes  connection  turning  on  the  guitar .

ive attatched  4  photos  of  the  trs plug  i cant really see  where  the  battery  power is   turned  on or off. maybe  you can see it   also  theres  a main board   showing  the  battery   connector.  i think you should  look there  and look over  the  whole  battery  connector . also  yours   i believe  has a battery  pack.   that could  also  be  defective.  mine  is a  300 so i can  use  a 9 volt  directly  instead  of  a battery  pack.  if your  using 6 aa batteries   thats 9 volts   you could   just try  a  9 volt  battery  then  but if you only  use  4 aa  then   thats 6 volt.

    Hello,

Have you tried traditional alkaline batteries?  Rechargable batteries do not tend to work very well with musical equipment such as the Variax.  If so, I am wondering if you could have an issue with the internal power connections, as the external power (via the TRS cable) does not seen to have an issue.
