Can i monitor myself through speakers using Line 6 GX

Hey,

I'm using an M Audio Fast track pro interface, to send my output signals to my monitors, however, i can't seem to find a way to do it, when using my Line 6 GX. Is there any possibility i could still use the Line 6, but use my m-audio interface, to carry on sending output signals to my speakers, so i don't constantly have to use headphones when i'm playing/recording guitar?

    connect the gx output to an input on your other interface.  it can be done, but please note that it's up to you to make it work, as that way of working isn't supported by line6.

     

    most people who want to do that, buy a small mixer and connect the output from both interfacs to the mixer, then the mixer outp[uts to your monitors.  then there's no need to change cables.

      I am not sure that would work either! As Windows only supports & activates one soundcard at a time. In the Audio Preferences.

       

      So if the M-Audio card is activated, would the Line 6 GX be "on" to be able to send an analog audio signal to the M-Audio Card?

       

       

      I do not know the answer this is just me thinking outloud!

        Yeah man, I took what you said on board and its working. its not ideal... but what you can do is set your input signal in system preferences to the gx and your output through the sound card. Seems to be alright. However, its pretty annoying if i'm recording vocals through the interface as obviously i'd have to take the gx out and all my guitar mixes will just sound like crappy dry audio signals.

        So i guess now i need to figure out... how do i keep the guitars sounding good when i'm recording something else?

    You have the POD Studio GX which comes bundle with POD Farm as a plug in so why do you even need to plug your guitar into your GX?

       

      Just plug the GX into your computer via USB (so it can keep the POD Farm plug in activated), plug your guitar into your Fast Track, plug your speakers into your fast track.

       

      Now, launch your recording application, set your M-Audio to be your I/O devices in your DAW's preferences, create an audio track, arm it, insert the POD Farm plug in on the track and there you go.
