Recording into computer

I recently came into ownership of a Line 6 Spider III amp and I need some help with recording. The amp has a Line Out Jack(also for headphones) and when I tried plugging that into my computer I could see that the Line In was receiving the signal but I can't hear anything. I run on Windows Vista and use Audition and Audacity for recording. Does anyone how I can hear my amp through my computer to record?

The preamp out/headphone/etc output is controlled by the Channel Volume knob.  You may need to try turning it up.

The computer - when you plug into the "line-in" jack on the back of the computer you will probably need to "turn on" that jack.  One way to do this is by clicking on "control panel - then - sound, speech, and audio devices - then - sound and audio devices - then - click the advanced button under the Device volume page - then - unmute the line-in and turn up the volume to suit.   (this is on XP, vista is about the same).

    good luck
