Pops & clicks issue

Hello,

i'm unlucky to experience the TonePort pops & clicks issue.

I've been said to start a new topic and post my pc's specs, so it could help.

So:

ASUS k50AB (notebook)

Windows XP SP3, 32-bit, slightly modified (just for the looks +few program installed, not important)

AMD ATHLON X2 QL-64 (2.10 GHz, 1MB cache)

4 GB RAM (Windows reads only 3,25 GB because it's an XP, still)

ATI Radeon 4570 (i doubt that's important, but whatever)

250 GB HDD

WiFi IEEE 802.11b/g/n
LAN 100 Mbps

So you can see i experience the common noise problem on Windows XP and having an Athlon, not Turion.

I've got TonePort UX1.

None of the solutions posted helped.

Please do something, i hope you guys will be able to fix this.

I had the same thing, you're using wireless internet right? Just disable your wifi card when using the line 6. My laptop has a little button that you can press to turn it on or off, if you're on a desktop or yours doesn't have that, I know theres a fairly simple setting that can turn it off. I don't really feel like looking for that setting at the moment though haha. It shouldn't be tough to find :]

    Hello,

Just so we can avoid some redundancy, can oyu tell me what you have tried so far from this list?

      1. Fill out your support profile at http://line6.com/account/supportprofile/

      2. Ensure that you have tested all cables to make sure that they are not defective (USB, audio, etc.)

      3. Ensure that you have all cables connections set up properly

      4. Adjust the Buffer Slider in the Line 6 Audio MIDI Control Panel. (Windows Users: Start/All Programs/Line6/Tools/Audio-MIDI Devices; Mac Users: System Preferences/Other/Audio-MIDI Devices)

      5. Adjust Sample Rates and Bit Depths in the Line 6 Audio MIDI Control Panel and ensure that the Sample Rates and Bit Depth settings in the Line 6 Audio MIDI Control Panel also match the project settings in your DAW/recording application

      6. Ensure that you have the Line 6 device set up in your operating system as the main input/output device (sound card); disable internal sound card in your operating system’s Device Manager control panel

      7. Ensure that your Line 6 USB Device is not connected to a powered USB hub; direct USB ports are required and please try ALL available direct USB ports during the troubleshooting process

      8. Remove all non-essential USB peripherals from the computer (not the mouse or keyboard)

      9. Disable any wireless cards on computer in Device Manager

      10. Set Power Schemes on computer in Control Panel (PC Only) to Always On

      11. There are also several other tips and optimizations you can make on your PC. Please refer to the following document for more information:

      http://line6.com/data/l/0a06007213339477ea0690cb2a/application/pdf/GearBox%203.5%20and%20later%20Windows%20XP%20&%20Vista%20Audio%20Tips%20&%20Optimizations%20(Rev%20A)%20-%20English.pdf

Please try all of the above first and let us know if you continue to have any more problems. Thanks!

Hmm. Thats odd :\ i thought for sure that'd be it haha. My advice to you: get a friends laptop or something, try the toneport on his machine. If the problem isn't on his, then its gotta be your machine. If the clicking IS heard on his however, then line 6 produced a defective machine. Which, things happen. Most of their gear is pretty good, but there's always that off chance that one of the connections or something is messed up with the toneport

    RE: Pops & clicks issue

    Hello,

It sounds like there is a compatibility issue with your particular laptop, as you stated the toneport works fine on another system.  If you have exhausted all your troubleshooting options you will want to use a different computer with your toneport.

Please let us know if you need further assistance, or close out the ticket as “answered” if your situation has been resolved.

Re: RE: Pops & clicks issue

Not impossible, but it doesn't look like line 6 is going to put a whole lot of effort into helping you :\ Go on a few recording/gear forum pages with some people that are a little more caring and less like talking to a computer that wants your money lol. My personal fav is http://http://www.homerecordingconnection.com/forum_home.php

If that link doesn't work just cut and paste. Theyve helped me threw a lot, actually they're the ones that recommended me to the tone port (a beautiful piece of gear for an outrageously low price, when your computer will work with it :\). If they can't help you maybe you can find a friend very computer savy who owes you a favor haha.

While Line 6 what it can to help end users, there is only so much Line 6 can offer in terms of computer troubleshooting.  You have already stated that the unit functions fine on another system, so the problem is with the computer you are using.  We have reccomended numerous documents to help you situation which you say have had no effect.  Here is one other document you can use to see if there is anything that can help:

      Computer System Audio Optimization
