No Sound from POD X3

Hi all,
This is the situation. I downloaded a patch into my X3 and saved it. Half way playing through my X3, suddenly the sound gone. I tried to change to other preset, there was still no sound. Below were my actions trying to rectify the problem:
- switched it OFF then ON again - no sound
- changed to TUNER mode, the tuner did not have any input signal.
- tried using other guitars and cables - no sound
- swtiched it OFF then ON it again the next day - no sound
Im totally clueless of what had happened to my unit. For info, my unit has never had any problem for the past 2 years. Please help.

Can you hear anything through headphones connected to the X3?
Does the behaviour change at all if the USB cable is/isn't connected to the computer?
Can you hear anything if you set the X3 to be your computer soundcard (with USB connected) and generate some sound from the computer?
thanks silverhead for your reply. my answers below:
- No sound neither from the headphone nor from the monitor speaker connected to the line out.
- No difference when the USB is connected or not.
- when the X3 is connected as a soundcard for my PC using USB, I still can hear sound. But when I plug in my guitar, i cant hear anything, even after i changed to my other guitars and cables. Like I said earlier, when i changed to Tuner mode, it seems no input signal is detected as the tuner does not working. could it be the problem with the input circuitry? should i reset it back to factory setting?
It does seem like there might be a hardware problem with the input circuitry, but there are a couple of other things to try that may restore it to working condition:
- check you Input/Output settings to make sure you don't somehow have your inputs messed up or tones muted.
- make sure Lock Tone 2 is OFF
- make sure you're using the tuner on the input signal for Tone 1; tuner doesn't work on Tone 2.
- use Line 6 Monkey to update/reinstall the firmware
- reflash the memory in safe mode. Hold down the right nav key when powering on the X3 then use the Flash Memory function in Monkey.
No harm in doing a factory reset as long as you back up your existing bundle first.
If none of the above helps I would wait for other forum members, especially Line 6 tech support, to offer their suggestions and opinions before taking it in for servicing.
Good luck with it.
ok i'll try all the steps and update you later on.
Thanks.
silverhead,
i have tried all that you suggested but still cant hear anything. then i sent i back to the store, the technician there confirmed that there is problem in the input circuitry that some of the ICs were shorted. no im waiting for the ICs to replaced. hope everything is fine after that.
hi...
sorry for not updating this problem that i have.
just to continue on from where i left off in the last post. after my pod x3 had been repaired where the IC was replaced. it was as good as new...BUT ONLY NOT UP TO 5 MINUTES! while i was testing the unit at the store itself...it actually shorted again and dead in less than 5 minutes! this happened in front of the technician and the sales guy themselves.
seeing that...i was lucky enough that the sales guy offered to replaced mine with a new unit. i was indeed very happy to get a replacement.
to cut the story short, after about 3 weeks playing with the new unit at home...the unit is dead! can start up..but no sound...this time it suddenly cannot be detected in my pc via usb (work fine before). it can be detected in safe mode and successfully reflash it...but still cannot be detected in normal mode. even in standalone mode..there is no sound at all.
seriously now i don't know what to do...even though if i get a new replacement (for the 2nd time) i have no more trust in Pod X3 quality, though i love the sound. Thanks.
