Recording vids directly to PC using Mic or USB plug

Hey I was wondering if this question/issue has came up in the past. I am trying to record a vid for youtube using my POD x3 live by using the webcam software provided with my PC. When I record direct, (mic or USB connection), there seems to be an audio clipping/dropout/chopping going on. I have adjusted the recording volume and that has cured the clipping issue so it records the full spectrum of the sound but it hasnt fixed the other problem. The volume dips on the recorded track and does not stay consistent. I think I have found a way to circumnavigate this issue but its somewhat of a headache by recording the video on mute and recording the track on Audacity Beta 1.3 (which is an awesome software!!) and then using windows movie maker to combine the two to overlay the tracks. If you have any ideas on how to remove that step I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks
Lee
PS When is line 6 going to produce a cabinet/amp to support the POD family similar to the Tech 21 and the Atomic? You guys make great amps and modelers and I think you are really missing out on a great market niche.
I am an idiot when it comes to Video Applications!
(That was the disclaimer!
)
Two issues come into mind!
Do you have access with a "Real" Video camera, that uses onboard Memory/Tape.... to record Video?
Then Maybe you can record the Video & Audio simultaneously, but not send the Video Signal until you are in Post Production, to your Video Mixing Software?
But I don´t know a thing about recording Video! ![]()
I've seen one of these, but havn't had a chance to try one yet - might be a solution. It's a webcam with high quality (so they claim) stereo microphones built in. You would need to make actual sound with powered speakers or whatever. Otherwise as, Loonybin -fizbin says, you need a normal video recorder that ideally has a stereo input socket for sound. You could then connect your X3 directly to it and I guess you should be able to monitor the sound through the headphone socket. You can get reasonable results with a normal camcorder, but they nearly all have automatic volume control, so they tend to amplify the quiet sounds and change the attack of aggressive playing. Some have an override feature for this, but not many. You need to check the specs.
sorry, forgot the link Phillips Webcam pro SPC1330NC:
Just had another thought. Have you tried connrcting the X3 to the PC by analogue rather than digital (usb) using the line in socket/s on your sound card. If you have a single stereo line in socket you can connect it to the X3 headphone socket or get a lead with two 6mm jacks one end and a single 3.5mm stereo on the other.
I dont think its a USB issue since the cam is built into the laptop and as far as i know its hardwired in. Also i should have plenty of ram 4GB since its a Gamer computer.
Those details were not mentioned previously!
Can´t blame anyone for making assumptions!
I had to disable my sound card and make the X3 my audio processing device. Wish I would have watched the vista tweak videos beforehand. They were really helpful. Thanks all that replied
