Michael. I don't know how good you are at DIY, but if you're handy with tools, you could try this:

Cut around the seam of the power supply box with a very sharp knife or a Dremmel with a rotating cutter or similar. Unwind some of the tape and you will come to a little electronic component that I believe is an over-temperature fuse, which has probably blown. Remove the component with a soldering iron and rejoin the wires and it should work OK afterwards. As far as I can see, there are no other electronic components in it to fail. It's only an ac transformer ( two coils of wire). For safety, you might want to drill some holes in the case to let any excess heat out. Unfortunately, it's difficult to rejoin the two halves of the case together afterwards. I just put some tape around mine. I hear of a lot of failures on this forum and experienced one myself. It wouldn't surprise me if this is caused by the power supply box being covered up by anything that's lying around during operation so that the heat can't get out; then it goes over temperature and the little fuse blows.
