2.0 Download - "Waiting for Command"

I downloaded the MIDI Ox program, and am using my Axiom 49 Keyboard as an interface. I'm able to send the update, which takes about 8-10 mins like it says. However, on the M13, even after it's finished downloading, "Flash Update Mode - Waiting For Command" stays frozen on the display (on FX Unit 1). Doesn't seem like the update is going through (I'm not seeing the new presets). Anyone experienced this?
I am having the same problem. I restart the M13 and it still has the same message. What gives? I am totally excited but, losing patience!
Hey guys,
If you're using an Axiom (I had the same problem when I first started doing the updates), make sure to turn off the MIDI Out (which you have to have on to send MIDI info), otherwise it won't ever receive the sysex. This should fix your problem.
peace.

Thanks Dave. Though I'm kind of a total moron when it comes to this type of stuff - can you elaborate on how to do that?
Sure...I have the 25, but I think it should be pretty much the same deal.
There should be an "Advanced" button underneath the LCD screen to the left. When you press that button it will light up blue -- then you can press one of the white keys on the actual keyboard under where it says "MIDI Out"...you'll see the MIDI image that used to appear in the LCD screen disappear.
That should do it!

Unfortunately, still no luck. Any other thoughts?
I'm happy to say that I'm all set now - albeit a different method. I read some other posts where people mentioned they had success with the M-Audio Uno. I did a Google search, and noticed that it looked a lot like this thing I bought 7 years ago to download MIDI songs onto my Yamaha keyboard. Found it stashed away in my basement, and sure enough, it's the same thing (although mine says "MIDIMAN" on it, which apparently was M-Audio's previous name). I downloaded the drivers, and it worked like a charm. Still don't know why I couldn't get the update using the Axiom, but oh well..
MIDI/USB is something that is only properly implemented on a couple of devices, the M-Audio Uno is one of them.
MIDI streams data and is not meant to be buffered so that it can play a MIDI instrument in proper real time and not stutter, speed up or slow down. USB, however, buffers data, so the interface has to basically use a buffer to remove the buffering effect of the USB. Most MIDI/USB interfaces don't do this which makes them fairly useless.
Well, there's a bit of technical rubbish to let you know why your Axiom may not have worked.
I would have thought that being a keyboard it should have handled MIDI data properly though.
Cheers,
Crusty
when you start up Midi Ox, is it saying that there are no MIDI inputs or outputs recognized (with your Axiom of course)?
If so, make sure you have the latest driver. Ever since Vista's SP2 update my Axiom wouldn't work without the new driver update. Also make sure that you follow the instructions Line 6 provides (especially in how the connections are made in MidiOx Preferences and Options).
Other than making sure the MIDI out is turned off on the Axiom, and the above suggestions...I don't got much else.
Hope that's at least somewhat helpful.

Which "driver" did you download? I have "regular XP". I'm using an UNO and I've tried all day on a PC and a Mac and I've had that same "Waiting for Command" message..................and then nothing happens! Ugh!!! I'm very frustrated. New update looks great! Wish I could join the party.
I'll try again tomorrow...

I also have the 25. This solution worked for me. Thanks so much! Was trying for about an hour before I figured I must not be the only person experiencing this and searched here. Thanks again!
I have had success on an M-Audio Oxygen 61. I had to change the midi out from 'internal' (where the keyboard sends its own keypress data to the MIDI out so that you can control e.g. an external sound module) to 'USB' where it sends the data from the computer to the USB out port. On the Oxygen 61 I pressed 'Advanced' then the piano key marked 'MIDI out' so that it said USB on the display. Once I pressed play on SysEx Librarian the m13 display changed to 'Downloading... Packet #' and within 30 seconds the packet numbers started climbing.
Hello,
I'd suggest picking up a dedicated MIDI to USB data transfer device like the M-Audio UNO. Try to perform large (in MIDI terms) data transfers through keyboards and other audio interfaces that have MIDI ports can create problems. Those devices are just not robust enought to handle the data transfers.
Line6Miller
Thanks for your response Line6Miller. I'm using an UNO. I "think" I may need to try downloading the driver from MAudio's site again. I just got a little wigged 'cause when I went to DL it before i got a message that said WARNING!!! ..."this has not been XP logo tested...etc." a friend of mine said that message "always come up and is pretty much a dummy light...so I'll try again!
I just didn't think I'd need the driver on the Mac...

I've got an M-Audio UNO and a MAC. Sometimes it fails mid transfer. It currently just says "Waiting Command" in the first screen and "v2.0" in the second. However, it ALWAYS says that, even if I reboot. So it's basically a brick right now. Any thoughts?
follow the update instructions and put the usb midi input cable in the input of the m13
and the output in the output.
Thanks spike. I actually was following the instructions to the "T". I just had to be patient. After about 8 tries, it finally took.
Hi all
I have the stupid problem of "Waiting for command..." every time.
I have tried every tip in this forum.
I have some cheap USB-Midi interface, there is no problem on sending data from M13, to my pc (making a patch backup), the problem is from pc to m13, it seems to no recieve firmware data. I tried this interface with my digitech rp2000 and works perfect sending and recieving, so the problem is just with M13.
Every cable is in its socket, i changed usb ports, check configurations, tried Midi ox and Send SX, also i changed to usb midi port (2) as some guy told in other thread...
I'm just desperate cause I dont know what to think about this...
Any Help?
Is it possible that the problem was my cheap USB interface? Should I go for M-Audio UNO ?
Thanks for any help guys ![]()
Help plz ![]()
Try switching the input and output jacks around. Don't know if it will help, it may though.
Already tried that.... nothing ![]()
You may have to try a different interface or computer. Search around the internet. There is good info over at The Gear Page as well.
hello j'ai le même problème . J'ai essayé un autre ordinateur et interface pas de changement. Toujours Waiting for commande. Aidez-moi . merci
Hello . J'ai croisé les fils de l'interface , c'est à dire output et input. et çA marche. Merveilleux.
En fait danl la m13 certainement l'entrée et la sortie sont inversées.
Merci
Hello . J'ai exactement le même problème. Help Please.
i also have an axiom 25 and i just made sure i followed the instuctions and it went through.. i had people in the music store telling me it was impossible and wanted me to drop 40 bucks for the uno but i wasnt willing to drop that much.. the funny thing is, for me i had to make sure the midi icon was on for the files to transfer.. i tried doing it without the midi out 'on' but it didnt recieve anything. pressed advanced, saw the midi icon on the display and pressed send file on midi ox again and it worked like a charm =]
