UX2 and Foot Controllers

I was just looking at the foot controllers available. When looking at the compatibility tables I found that there was no mention of the UX2. So I'd like to know whether this means none of the foot controllers are compatible? or was there just no data? or will I have to find an alternative...

Furthermore, I have read in places it is possible to "assign" "any footswitch" to POD Farm, now i have tried and tried but have had no success. Are there footswitches in particular? or is there something specific i need to do? I would love to see the process described to me rather than just being told to "Assign" stuff.

Cheers.

you can't do it in pod farm.  you used to be able to do it in gearbox, so you could install gearbox if you like.  it will happily co-exist on the same PC as POD Farm, although you may want to uncheck the install drivers selection when installing gearbox.  the foot switches i think are the momentary type, like the ones Boss make.

i believe I heard a rumour which someone mentioned on this site that the FBV MKII controllers (which have MIDI over USB) may be able to control POD Farm in the future. but they can control Gearbox already.

SO. you could get an FBV MKII and control gearbox with it for now, and then in the future when pod farm is updated, you should be able to use the FBV MKII for that.  but always bare in mind that you should always buy gear for what it can already do, and not rely upon what it maybe/shound be able to do in the future.

    Hello,

Rowbi is correct. Full MIDI implementation has not been made available yet in POD Farm. Using a foot controller with Gearbox will work.

MIDI should be available in the next release of POD Farm although I do not have a specific release date to provide you for that.

      Has this answer been helpful?

    Hello,

You'll want to look into a simple momentary footswithc that you can connect to the 1/4" jacks on the TonePort. At that point you can open up the MIDI assign page in Gearbox preferences and assign certain effect to the footswitch. IE: you can turn certain effects on and off just like a real stomp box.

      Has this answered your question?

    Re: UX2 and Foot Controllers

It seems to me that Line 6 has been saying that they are going to rectify the lack of midi control for POD Farm for the last 2-3 years in an update!!!  I'll be surprised if the update ever comes, but they will keep saying that it will come in an update.  It seems that the KB37 is a midi controller so it should not be that hard to implement midi on the POD toneport or studio products??  Also, they have it for the Gearbox, what's so hard and taking sooooooo much time to implement it for the toneport and studio products???  The products everyone expected it to be on.  When they introduced these products was it not realized that this should have been a norm this type of product, as well as foot control????

What should be done is a revamp of the product to include midi control, foot control (for wah, dive bomb, and other effects), and keep the momentary and latch controls to move about the POD Farm software.  The foot control and midi functionality would contribute to hands free operation and really make a kickass recording product when combined with the incredible tones produced by POD Farm, either stand alone or Plug in.  Right now I have tried the Gearbox solution, but the tones seem thin when compared to POD Farm.  I hope this helps in giving direction to the Line 6 product department that has heard endlessly about this.  A new product upgrade wth a trade in policy would make many hundreds, if not thousands, of Line 6 users extremely happy.
