Hey, anyone interested in doing a band photo should check out this site for what NOT to do. It's pretty funny and pretty vulgar but, it will show you the things not to do in your band photo. Like leaning against a brick wall or standing on train tracks....
Wow. Hahaha! This site is awesome. Made my day...Thanks!
A classic of internet time wasting. I don't think it has been updated in a few years. I actually know one of the bands and I know they were not happy being called out on the mechanic shirt thing. Because of this site I subconciously think of quotes for every band photo I see.
It is a great waste of time! I love things like that.
I'll tell you, though, it really made me think about our band photo. No brick walls or train tracks, and definitely no men's room!
And it is kinda mean, but it's also a valuable lesson. There's a right way and a wrong way to do things. Put the effort in to do things the right way.
Through the years I have seen tons of rock band pictures in front of a brick wall. I don't think it's so bad. Is it 'bad" because it's been done a million times before and now it is a cliche?
Well, think about what the ultimate point of a band photo is - press kit. There are times when it doesn't matter, but for many, the point is to send your demo and press kit to some one who can get you signed. If the A&R guy reviewing your presskit has seen 25 bands today with 20 of them in front of brick walls, then yeah, it's not a good thing.
we took some pics at our last gig that we actually really like for once. They were done with a camera phone so I'd like to go back and take real pictures there.
