Why won't the Spider Jam record drum tracks to my SD card?

I've tried recording music to my SD but it only plays the guitar and not the drums? HELP!
You can save DRUMS/SONGS to SD card if you use SAVE REC MIX AS WAV TO CARD. This mixes everthing you hear into one mono track. Make sure that you have the playback level set correctly before saving using the controls in the LEVEL menu.
When I try to save them using the SAVE RECORDING AS WAV FILE TO SD it says SD-CARD WRITE ERROR.
use the Spider Jam to format the SD card and then try to save your wave file
from page 2.1 of the advanced users guide:
Format Card It’s best to start out with a new 1 GB or 2 GB SD card. If you have an existing card, that’ll work fine, but make sure you’ve backed up any saved files on the card first, because when you format your card, all your files will be erased. The main reason to format your SD card is to ensure your card is set up with the JM4 filing system. It’s also a good way to get a fresh start in organizing your sessions. To format your SD card, follow these steps: Insert an SD card (up to 2 GB) into the SD card slot on the Spider Jam rear panel.• Press the •
SAVE
button; you’ll see a list of menu items in the LCD. Turn the wheel and navigate to •
Format Card
, then press the R Arrow to format. Press the Up Arrow to confirm "•
Yes
". The format process will take a few seconds.
Alright, I've used my Spider Jam to format my SD card, but when I try to Save recording as WAV file it still says SD CARD WRITE ERROR. I've updated my amp to the correct firmware and everything so I still dont know what I'm doing wrong.
make sure your SD card does have the 'write protect' swtich on
you may also need to try other SD card(s)
How do you turn the Write Protect ON? The only thing it has on the card is a LOCK.
Same here, tried everything above mentioned, no luck.
I can save jam file but with wav its write error.
Is it a bug or what? I used 1 and 2 giga cards, all the same.
How can I open jam file on computer?
Andyrod,
Hopefully, you are at firmware 2.09 on the Spider Jam.
In an effort to reproduce the problem, I attempted to save one of my own recordings by hitting 'SAVE', then selecting 'SAVE REC MIX AS WAV TO CARD'. I also received an 'SD-CARD WRITE ERROR' message. Strange.
So, I hit 'SAVE', then selected 'FORMAT CARD'. The Jam formatted the card in seconds and I gave it another shot. It worked that time.
If multiple cards are giving you the same problem after following the steps above, there must be a hardware issue with your amp and needs to go to an authorized service center:

Hugo,
Yes I have updated my amp to firmware 2.09 and I also have formatted my SD card through my amp, but still no luck. I will keep on trying though. Thanks for the information!
Yes, 2.09 it is. I had some semi succes though,
I formatted card with SDFormater and I can read wavs
from it now, no luck with recording still.
Some more formatting is in hand.
Hi,
I initially suffered the same problem as most of you have described with regards to the
"SAVE REC MIX AS WAV TO CARD" Error
However I think I managed to solve the problem.
1) Format the Card as desbribed above.
2) When saving your recording name it something very basic. I name mine with just a single lowercase character i.e. "w".
3) The transfer should now work and you can then simply rename once transfered to your computer.
Hope this helps
Eren
If you are having trouble saving WAV files, it might be that you are not conforming to the eight dot three filenaming convention imposed by the FAT16 file system. Don't assume that the default name the Spider Jam provides is valid. Set the name for the WAV file to no more than eight characters A-Z, a-z, 0-9. The .WAV extension is not necessary as it is added automatically.
I could not believe that formatting would help, because I was able to 'transfer' and 'save' the files to card - but the 'save rec mix as wav to card' did not work.
But formatting the card for the 4th time finally fixed the error !
So: you may have to format the card more than once, don't give up ![]()
Not sure if this is of help to you but I made so many mistakes when I first began recording songs with my amp that I finally developed a work flow that minimized my frustrations.
I haven't tried recording and then saving directly to the SD card. When I was using the amp to record tracks in the past, I would always save the recordings to the amp until I was satisfied with the song (and had it saved to the amp in it's final or close to final version). Then I would move it to the card and then I would save it as a wav file so I could transfer it to my computer. I am sure there are shorter cuts but that is what worked for me.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
