How to use the free POD Farm offer?

Hi all I downloaded the free POD farm thing when it was free and installed it. But how to take advantage of it? Sorry Im new to it, but it looks like the same thing as gearbox but the amps spin around on a carousel. I heard it was really good and you use the "plugin" for gearbox to get amazing dual tones and other things. Any help would be appreciated I have no idea where to start with it.

    Hello,

If you're new to the world of plug ins then get ready to do some reading.

POD Farm as a plug in simply means that you can pull the software up within your recording application to add effects or amp modeling to your pre-recorded dry signal. This is sometimes referred to as reamping.

I'd really suggest you start by reading the POD Farm manual and recording set up guide. You can find both of those manuals in PDF form at http://line6.com/support/manuals/.

You should also take a look at the following FAQ's as they should bring you up to speed on how all of this works.

In Monkey: Optional/Add-Ons; there should be a line that reads POD Farm with a [+] to the left. If it's [-], even better because you'll see the POD Farm (Plug-In) component below it. Click on that. Click "Activate Purchase". Type the word 'refresh' (minus the quotes I just typed). Click "Activate". If successful, you'll see a green check mark appear next to the POD Farm component.

Try launching the effect from within your DAW application. If it doesn't see an "Authorized Device attached" still, close out of applications. Then, try a different direct physical USB port on your host computer other than the one you've used prior.

Re: How to use the free POD Farm offer?

You just need Monkey for activation - that has NOTHING to do with launching POD Farm plugin. The 'POD Farm' listed in the 'Optional Add-Ons' tabs IS referring to POD Farm plugin, though it doesn't acutally say plugin. Nor does it really work WITH GearBox, except that you can load tones from GearBox in POD Farm and visa versa. The plugin is actually used in recording software such as Live, ProTools, Cubase, etc. Take a look at the following links for more:

    POD Farm Standalone vs Plugin

    http://line6.com/community/docs/DOC-1503

The next two are specific to the DAW software being used, but they will give you a clearer idea about the plugin:

GearBox plugin license is no longer available, so you will not be able to activate it.

For POD Farm, please try a license refresh:

In the 'Optional Add-Ons' tab of Line 6 Monkey, please click 'Activate Purchase.' Instead of a license code, type the word "Refresh" in the text field and click 'Activate.' Follow any prompts that follow. Once complete, try POD Farm plugin in Ableton again.

    Hello,

If the refresh is failing then you may have some sort of USB connectivity issue going on.

What kind of computer are you using? What operating system? How many devices are connected to your computer?

Are you plugging your Line 6 device into a USB hub by any chance?

Make sure that you are typing 'refresh' using all lower case letters, otherwise you will receive an error message.

Also, I must inform you that we currently do not support the Windows 7 operating system. Stay tuned to our Community announcement for information concerning Line 6 compatibility with Windows 7.

Re: How to use the free POD Farm offer?

I have a personal DAW system made by ADK. When they installed everythign I was originally usiing the Tone Port UX1 w/ Gear Box. After I received the system back I had the new Pod Farm GUI...AWESOME. The only crappy thing is not all the effects, amps, pedals, etc. work. It says something like I dont have permission or system doesnt support this equipemnt (dont really remember). All in all the thing is sick and blows a normal mic'd amp away. I'm just wondering does this free POD Farm offer fix or make those effects, amps, etc. that wont work right now, work? If not how do I go about downloading something that will make it all work. I dont want to be limited in what I click on.

FYI I liked the way Gear Box made the online user generated setups available. I'm not seeing that in the POD Farm GUI.
