How can I sync Pod X3's tempo based fx to Cubase

This is something I want to do for a while with my POD X3 and I cannot find a way.
I want to be able to sync the tempo based effects like BIAS tremolo, delays etc to the tempo of Cubase 5 so that it follows Cubase's clock. Right now, even if I have the correct tempo dialed in, Pod X3 is out of sync all the time.
This makes a lot of the pathces useles for serious recording.
Is there any way I can sync it to a DAW?
I am using Cubase 5 and have my POD X3 connected via SPDIF to my RME Multiface II audio interface.
Thank you in advance
There's no MIDI clock sync in the POD. You can lodge a feature request.
Cheers,
Crusty
If you make a couple of measures of quarter notes, have them play the CC for "Tap Tempo" (I forget which # offhand, but it is in the X3 MIDI docs),
and insert it in the beginning of every song (and again if you have tempo changes), then the X3 will essentially sync to Cubase.
Not literally MIDI clock, but for all practical purposes it is the same thing.
Thank you for the replies,
I understand what you say. However how am I going to send the CC message from Cubase to POD X3? I cannot connect them since there is no midi in in the X3.

Woops-sorry!!
I have the X3Live, and forgot they crippled the X3bean.
Unfortunately, you are outa luck...
Really is this the case?
I cannot believe I have a device full of tempo-based FX and I cannot sync them to my DAW!
There must be a way...Via USB maybe?![]()
no access to MIDI functions through USB even on the x3 live... so NO.
In reaper there is a possibility via JS FX. Check out http://line6.com/community/thread/18118?tstart=0
I don´t know but perhaps also in cubase
Hi,
The link does is not valid. Could you post the right link please?

However these topics do not apply to my case as my POD X3 is not the Live version and it does not have midi I/O.
Thanks anyway.
If it's not in live situations(?) why don't you use Pod Farm synced to host?
Thor
Hello,
No, it is not for a live situation, music production only.
Can you please elaborate on Pod Farm please?
As I see it I will have to use a plugin insted of Pod and put strain on my CPU. Which is OK, I don't mind about that, but :
1.Does it sound exactly the same as POD X3?
2.(AND MOST IMPORTANT) I saw that in order to get the full version with all the 78 amps and fx of the POD X3 I have to pay?
I mean, there's no WAY I'm paying for a plugin since I have bought ALL the effects in hardware form with POD X3. I may as well return the POD X3 as I find it useless in my music production. It is supposed to be a product for professional use isn't it? I don't use it for live, if I was playing live I would buy the Live model.
I hope that someone from Line6 support will throw a line here as I am very frustrated to find out that there is no way to do such a simple thing even with a device that has USB on it.
as long as you have the x3 you don't have to pay... the platinum plug in is free.
and yes it sounds exactly the same...
and you can use patches from your x3 in pod farm or vice versa
+1
You have to have your X3 USB connected (as a dongle), then Pod Farm will show up with the same amps & fx as X3.
There is a sync to host option in PodFarm.
Thor
Thank you very much, that sounds awesome!
However, I installed Pod Farm and my POD X3 with Monkey and still when I launch Pod Farm I get only the limited version of it, not the Platinum.
Also, when I start Pod Farm, it does not list Pod X3 in the devices list.
How can I overcome this?
you can only use pod farm as a plug in... meaning you need to launch it from within your recording software and not by clicking on an icon.
it will use the x3 to authorize all of the models this way.
Well, thank you so much. This plugin is amazing and I didn't know it even existed. I was waiting for Line6 to release something like this for a while.
Running it in my DAW shows all the Amp models.
I still hope there will be a way for Pod X3 to be synced with a DAW. This is certainly not impossible to do given that Pod X3 communicates with Gearbox standalone and it is able to send and receive parameters in real time. Line6 could make an application that you could run as a plugin in Cubase that will make X3 sync with the host tempo as well as giving the user the ability to edit X3's parameters from within your host.
That would be perfcect.
For now, however, I can record time-based effects with Farm Pod.
Thank you again.![]()
