How do you delete a recording from the Spider Jam ?

The process described in the manual is not working. The last step "press down button" takes you back to the previous menu and does not delete the file
You are going to kick yourself...
The 'down' button is opposite the 'up' button and in between the 'left' and 'right' buttons - on the four way selector.

I won't get the opportunity to kick. That is the button that was push and the file was not deleted. The result from pushing the down button at the Delete File Yes/No prompt is a return to the previous menu with no file deleted.
Any other ideas ?
On my Spider Jam (with Version 2.09 firmware), to delete a file, I press the SAVE button, scroll down to ERASE SAVED RECORDING, press the RIGHT button where I am presented with a list of recordings. I scroll to the one I want to delete, press the RIGHT button and am offered YOU ARE ABOUT TO ERASE REC #0x with options YES (UP arrow) NO (DOWN arrow). So it is the UP arrow you use to delete a recording, not the DOWN as stated in the original manual. Pressing DOWN cancels the delete and takes you back to the menu.
This is what I discovered after reaching the point where I put the manual down and started pushing buttons indiscriminately. Thanks for the help Joe !
