No More Line 6 Products For Me

I bought a kb37 about 18-19 months ago, I mostly use it for gtar/bass stuff but I use the keys sometimes...
Anyway I go to use it on the weekend... low and behold about 8 of the keys no longer function (yes I tried diff usb cables, reinstalling drivers etc etc).
I checked the warranty and d'oh only 12 months.![]()
Ok so I thought great this is a pain in the neck not too mention I was (and still am) pretty angry about the poor life of the product
so I contacted the service centre listed by line6 (im in Australia for those of you who want to know there is only one service centre listed)... luckily for me
its not too far from home...
They then proceed to tell me that they do not deal with any out-of-warranty repairs ![]()
(People at line6 if you are going to allow somewhere to be a service centre make sure its a service centre not a sorry-we-dont-do-that centre)
They told me I could try taking the kb37 to some electronics place about 40mins drive away.![]()
Already after this experience I'm almost tempted to forget it and cut my losses and go buy something else, unfortunately I had to fork out 600 bucks for this P.O.S. (I knew I should have bought that presonus interface...)
So if you're reading this steer away from these rubbish products and get something else!
I wonder if others have had similar problems.
(If you cant tell I'm very p----d off!)
I had pretty much the same problem when I got my KB37. Luckily, I found out about it right away and got another one to replace it. The Line 6 forum moderator at the time Line6Miller even said that if I got a hassle from the commission sales wolves at the place I bought it, he would take care of it for me.I was bummed, too, I bought it right before my vacation and took it with me.
Sorry to hear about your luck. They are cheap little keys, I hate them LOL. At least mine still work now, 3 years going *crosses fingers*
Yeah, cheap, given that I setup the kb on my desk when I bought it, I havent moved it since, I dont mash the keys, I protect it from dust nothing has been spilt on it and this is how it repays me!
Where did you originally purchase the KB37? Did you purchase it in your country or region?
Line6Miller
I originally purchased the kb37 from billy hyde music which is in the same country and region (I've been trying to hunt down my receipt
).
Here is the most recent response from the company listed as the service centre on the line6 webpage when I mentioned that line6 listed them as a service centre:

Hi,
We are actually the distributor for Line 6 products and do a little warranty service work here. All other work is outsourced to our authorised service centres.
Thanks for getting back to me.
Can oyu answer me the following?
When did you purchase the KB37?
Is it still under warranty?
Can Billy Hyde email you a receipt? You do not need the original.
Who did you speak with at Music Link? Do you have a contact name?
Is your KB37 registered in your user account?
Thanks!
Line6Miller
Hey I've sent you a pm with a response
I never wanted to share this - because others may expect the same... I had a toneport UX2 - was about 8 months out of warranty. I called line6 to ask about sending it in for repair - he asked about the purchase date and I told him and said yeah, out of warranty. He said. Well send it in we'll send you a new one. THEY DID.
Later sold it to upgrade to the UX8 (Still have it) so maybe you should have called line6 and not some other service center?
Given I live in Australia, it makes it a bit difficult to call Line 6 directly, but the service centre are the ones listed by line6 to contact. I figured well, my warranty is expired I will contact the service centre to fix it...
It still doesnt help me feel disappointed that I spent a fair bit of money on something that hasnt lasted very long. I could understand it breaking down within 2 years if I didnt pay much for it or if I had picked it up 2nd hand.
I would be happy with a replacement but I don't want to get my hopes up.
A month later and I havent heard anything... Looks like I'm going shopping after Christmas for a decent product
Maybe something that will last longer than 18months
i was initially excited about the kb37 until i touched the keyboard--there was just no way that thing was going to hold up and it's not as if Line6 had any experience building keyboards. i just felt it was much safer to keep the two funcions seperate. i think the other interfaces, although they are plastic (like most other interfaces) are pretty rugged. i wouldn't bash the whole product line based on the kb37.
I have several Line 6 products and they are a great value. One bad apple don't spoil the whole bunch.

You seem to wipe your slate clean a lot Looney. Why?
Just curious.
I don't think "a lot". But I do, do this when I re-read and see that I answered something with nothing relevant worth saying! Heat of the moment kind-a thing.... ![]()
I am totally through with L6 too! After many battles and a ridiculously long wait for Vista drivers (Bass Pod XT Live), the editor librarian (Line6 edit) still will not work. "No problem," they said, "just revert your Java to an older version and it'll work fine."
No thanks. I'm not compromising all my other apps that use Java to prop up their shitty software and drivers.
Every Line6 product I've purchased, two variax basses and the aforementioned Bass Pod has been fraught with problems, terrible support and service (an authorized service center was unbeleivably lame and unprofessional). From my digging through the forums to get help I learned that my problems were common among bass products. Guitarists had the drivers etc. they needed seasons before the bass players had theirs.
It's plain these guys are serving a board of directors not musicians. What can you expect from a company that was born by employees working at a different company developing their product on someone elses dime.
Zee purrfect coostomer for zee Line6 producks !!!
Line 6 is garbage save your money!!! I bought UX2 and it is the biggest waste of money i ever spent and i cant return it because i opened the box because of the software....THAT DOESNT WORK!!!
Stay in the mix and in the know.
